Dear all,
a doubt:
is Instagram compatible with Creative Commons?
Can I upload *my* Instagram pics on Commons (so could it be used for WLM)?
Please consider that I'm not suggesting Instagram pics are good for WLM
(they are filtered and all, probably not very suitable for illustrating
monuments on Wikipedia)
but is a legal matter.

We had very bad experience with using the WLX jury tool this year. I
described it at length here:
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons_talk:WLX_Jury_Tool
Several possible solutions are also mentioned on that page. I would like
to hear your opinion about this situation. Could anyone help Ilya with
developing and maintaining the jury tool, and make sure that it works at
it should work?
If we are planning to meet a very sharp deadline of October 25 for WLM
photos, the jury tool should work absolutely smoothly, and user support
has to be very prompt. Or it would be good to know already now that we
can't rely on the jury tool, and alternative solutions should be
searched for.
Sincerely,
Alexander
Hi erevyone,

(starting a new thread, that way it's easier to find)
the identifier of a monument usually originates from the 'authority' (the
government, usually). There are some good examples here:
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2016/Lists_…
If that doesn't answer your question, please let us know!
Best,

Hi there!
At Wikimania Jean-Fred and I held a presentation about Wiki Loves
Monuments, which you can now find on Commons:
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Present_and_Future_of_Wiki_Loves_Mo…
The etherpad for that session can be found at
https://etherpad.wikimedia.org/p/wlm-future - I hope most of the questions
were answered, but there still might be some topics that we want to discuss
further, especially what role the WMF could or should play in Wiki Loves
Monuments.
There's also WMSE's presentation on WLM and preserving heritage sites on
Commons in case you missed the very interesting presentation:
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:How_You_and_the_Rest_of_the_Wikimed…
If you have any further questions regarding the presentation please don't
hesitate to contact me.
Best,
Philip
It seems that we have two Jury tools deployed on Tool labs
<https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Commons%3AJury_tools&type=r…>
without
source code published - German's and Israel's. It violates Tool labs policy
(although not enforced and largely ignored) on having source code of the
tool available. It also prevent others from trying to use, investigate or
adapt useful ideas from that tools. As I published the source code my tool
<https://github.com/intracer/wlxjury> I finally have a right and would like
to ask to publish sources of two other tools :). There was also Brazil's
tool, but it's not used recently and the it's source code was published
somewhere.

Ilya

Hey folks,
A few years ago, we managed to set the world record for the largest
photography competition in the world, according to the Guinness Book of
World Records. We still hold this record with our 2012 competition
<http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/world-records/largest-photography-compe…>
.
I was thinking, as a little bonus on WLM 2016, would it be nice to try and
break another record? The competition will be hard to break if I look at
our previous submissions, but there is another record that might be
interesting: the largest digital photo exhibition
<http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/world-records/29046-largest-digital-pho…>.
The record currently stands at 115,117 and seems breakable.
Based on what I read, this might be a bunch of LED screens all displaying a
slide show of photos at a publicly accessible place. We could do this
during some kind of event, and simply show all WLM submissions from the
international competition.
Anyway, is there anyone, or a chapter/local team that would like to
consider organising something like this? If we want, we could even make it
a 'travelling' exhibition. It would require a lot of screens, a nice
occasion to display them, a bit of software to show the photos and
collecting evidence.
Best,
Lodewijk
Hello,
There are two instances related to WLM (wlmjudging & wlmjurytool) that are
being considered as part of the current 2016 Labs projects purge.
https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Purge_2016#wlmjudging
Would that belong to anyone here − or someone might know the owner?
If it's yours, and you want it to be kept, just add your signature anywhere
in the section.
Otherwise they’ll be deleted in August.
(Thanks Quiddity for flagging this to me :-)
Cheers.
