Dear all,
a doubt:
is Instagram compatible with Creative Commons?
Can I upload *my* Instagram pics on Commons (so could it be used for WLM)?
Please consider that I'm not suggesting Instagram pics are good for WLM
(they are filtered and all, probably not very suitable for illustrating
monuments on Wikipedia)
but is a legal matter.

Yes, given the lack of freedom of panorama in Italy I* personally
suggest you, as a foreigner, to put aside WLM and
1) avoid recent stuff of course for copyright reasons,
2) disregard the non-copyright restrictions, cross the border with all
your precious treasures and immediately upload to Commons, laughing at
the ministry.

Hi all,
I'm looking for a tools to get the statistic of the user that participate in the last edition.
What I would like is a way to enter the list of all participant for switzerland, and retrieve at least:
*the date of registration for each participant (new wikimedian?)
*the last edit of each participant (still a wikimedian?)
Thanks a lot to the one who saved me!
Charles

Hi again,
in the remaining months building up to WLM 2013, I think it would be a
good idea to take care of one thing that has already been mentioned last
year — that is, making the Wordpress template used on
<http://www.wikilovesmonuments.org> mobile-friendly (or, in other words,
responsive).
To make things easier for the volunteer who will be willing to take up
this task, I reported a bug in the recently renamed "Wiki Loves
Monuments" product on Bugzilla—so if anyone'd like to help us out,
please read the bug description at
<https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47674> and let us know :-)
Thanks in advance,

Hi everyone,
Now is a good time to start information about our cultural heritage to
Wikidata. Not everything is possible yet, but we can at least start with
the simple things that need to be done anyway:
* Have items for every monument article and list
* Add claims to every monument article (P31) and list (P360) linking
them to the article about the local cultural heritage (example:
Rijksmonument)
* Add country (P17) to all lists and articles
Some things that are also possible (but not in all countries yet):
* Add the identifier
* Add the type of building
* Add the administrative unit (state/province/municipality, etc)
* Image
* Commons category
To keep track of this, we created
https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Cultural_heritage_task_force .
Who wants to help out? You don't need to be a bot or a wikidata wizard,
just start with looking up the article about cultural heritage in your
region. You can see several examples in the list.
For bot owners: I'm using a claimit.py . It's in the rewrite branch of
Pywikipedia. You can use it to mass add claims to Wikidata. For example
for the lists of Rijksmonumenten:
claimit.py -catr:Lijsten_van_rijksmomumenten -namespace:0 P360 Q916333

Hi there,
just like in the previous years, we have been offered a free (as in free
beer) full-page advertisement in the Europa Nostra magazine Heritage in
Motion (this year's theme being Greece).
The only requirement is that we create & design the advertisement by
ourselves, and submit the design file (in JPG, PDF or AI, 23 x 30 cm + 5
mm bleed on all sides) by May 1.
Since the deadline is just a few days away, I would appreciate any help
in creating the text of the advertisement; let's use Etherpad for that
purpose[1].
Also, if there are any volunteers willing to prepare a draft design (or
if you just have any ideas), please speak up :-) You can use the 2011[2]
and 2012[3] ads as examples.

Dear All,
I need some help and I think this list would be the easiest way to get
it. I will spend the whole month of May in Italy. I will be based in
Pisa and probably will have time to travel around as well. I will take
my camera and, in principle, I could easily take photos of some cultural
heritage monuments. However, I have difficulties locating lists of
monuments and understanding which pictures are already available. The
only list of lists for Italy I was able to find is
http://www.wikilovesmonuments.it/monumenti/lista-monumenti/ , and for
instance for Toscana I get
http://www.wikilovesmonuments.it/monumenti/lista-monumenti/Toscana/ .
This list is short (for instance, it does not include a single monument
from Florence, Pisa, Siena, Lucca or San Gimignano), not illustrated and
not editable. I remember there were some problems with Italian lists
(like the government objected to their publication or smth). Could
someone pls update me on the situation and advise where I could find a
more complete monument list (say for Toscana), and, ideally, whether
there is an easy way to compile a list which only shows monuments
without a single image on Commons.
Thanks in advance
Cheers
Yaroslav
Hi everyone,
Europa Nostra published a list of 14 most endangered monuments in
Europe. From these they will select the 7 most endangered ones. You can
find it at http://www.europanostra.org/7-most-endangered/ . Maybe fun to
write some articles about these? They might be willing to include links
to the articles if we have these available.

This is quite technical but I think it worth mentioning. I tried a new version of Template:Coord based on Lua [1]. A heavy list with 230 monuments and coodinates now is served in 19 seconds instead for 25 sec. according with commented information included by MediaWiki in source pages. This time depends on many factors, but it is significant as I checked it on different pages just before and after updating the row template, and reduction time is quite constant. A list of 100 monuments is served in 4 seconds instead of 8 sec. Futhermore, it has reduced the number of expansion templates and the template inclusion limit now is higher allowing around 350 monuments.

Dear Lodewijk, dear all,
On the way to Milano I have written down my thoughts concerning the Wiki Loves Monuments workshop I would like to propose in at Wikimania in Hong Kong.
Please have a look and let me know what you think.
If anybody feels like co-moderating the workshop, please let me know.
Kind regards,
Beat
