Dear all,
a doubt:
is Instagram compatible with Creative Commons?
Can I upload *my* Instagram pics on Commons (so could it be used for WLM)?
Please consider that I'm not suggesting Instagram pics are good for WLM
(they are filtered and all, probably not very suitable for illustrating
monuments on Wikipedia)
but is a legal matter.

Hello everyone,
I'm new in this mailing list. I'm Francesca, staff member of Wikimedia
Italy since 2013, I probably met some of you in Berlin at the Wikimedia
Conference.
I worked on the past two editions of Wiki Loves Monuments Italy together
with the project manager Emma Tracanella and WMIT staff.
The organization of WLM Italy 2015 has now started and we are facing a
small challenge that I would like to share with you here, hoping someone
can help us.
We are trying to figure out which is the best process to make a first
selection of pictures uploaded for the contest and if there's a tool
available to support this work. We are wondering what are the methods
used by other organizations.
In order not to overload our volunteers, we would like to speed up and
ease the process so that everyone won't have to go through all the
images. We were thinking of a tool with "yes/no/not sure" bottons or a
system that allows people to vote. The point would be to leave out the
pictures with a certain level of "no" or otherwhise to promote only
those having a certain number of "yes".
Suggestions or advice coming from your experience would be very welcome. :)
Thank you very much,
Francesca

Hello. Last year, Wikimedia Spain had a collaboration with an association of friends of the French St. James Way. That partner provided books as prizes for a special category of WLM contest.[1] It seems that this year they will be partners too, and we could look for more different partners for that.
Maybe there could be a special prize for St. James Way at an international level, because St. James Way is present in different European countries. For example, the Way is present also in England, Austria, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Switzerland, Italy or Portugal. Besides, the Way in Spain and France is recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.[2][3] This is only an idea, so, please feel free to say your opinion.
Last week we run an edit-a-thon in Jaca about the Fench St. James Way in Aragon, and during WMCON, I could talk with Anne-Laure Prévost, of Wikimedia France, about starting a project related with this.

Dear all,
We shall need a good international team to have another successful version
of Wiki Loves Monuments after 2014. The team should comprise of experience
volunteers who have conducted WLM or any such event in their country.
There are numerous tasks and first task will be to hunt and find our
countries who shall be willing to organise Wiki Loves Monuments again. To
brief, the International Team is more of coordinating with all
participating countries and without proper coordination, there will be no
international competition for WLM 2015.
Been in the international team is also more of applying for grant,
documenting, following up and keeping track of status of all participating
countries. Time to be spent may vary according to the skill of team
members; more the skills and people, lesser the burden; however you can
assume 10 hours a week during the contest (just horrifying).
Would you be interested to be part of international team for WLM 2015,
please send me a brief introduction of yourself and also a note on how you
would benefit the international team. Please send the same by 6th of Jan.
Regards from Mumbai,
Karthik Nadar.
Hi all;
In the past years, monuments related to communism in Ukraine have been
damaged or destroyed. During Euromaidan protests that was increased, with
many examples of destroyed sculptures.[1]
I have heard in the news that many more monuments are going to be removed
soon by law. I know that it is a controversial topic in Ukraine, but
probably we won't be able to take pictures of these monuments anymore.
Is anyone interested on this topic?

Hi WLM people,
For some reason this (draft) report was send to the glam-l list and not

Subject: WLM and Other photo events Evaluation Reports 2015: join the
conversation!
To: Maria Cruz <mcruz(a)wikimedia.org <mailto:mcruz@wikimedia.org>>
TL;DR: The Learning and Evaluation team at Wikimedia Foundation has
released the first Programs Reports for Wiki Loves Monuments [1] and
Other Photo Events [2]. Learn more about how these programs deliver
against the set goals and comment on what next steps should be! Join the
event on Wed May 6 *[3]*
Hi all,
The Learning and Evaluation team at Wikimedia Foundation is happy to
launch the first two Wikimedia programs reports 2015: Wiki Loves
Monuments [1]and Other Photo Events [2]. As many of you know, the
reports are the result of a collaborative effort that brings together
program leaders across the movement and the L&E team, to better
understand the impact Wikimedia programs have online and offline.
Highlights of the first reports include that media uploaded to Wikimedia
Commons as part of the Wiki Loves Monuments and other photo events (from
September 2013 to September 2014) represent 14% of the media uploaded to
Commonsand media uploaded are used in articles at five times the rate
ofother media uploaded during the same time period.Read the reports to
understand how many new users are introduced to wiki projects through
these programs, to learn about user retention, and to see how effective
photo events are at expanding and improving contenton Wikimedia
projects. Unlike the beta reports, these new deliveries includes a new
section: «How this info can apply to program planning», in the section
«Key Findings», to help program leaders make the most of these reports.
In addition to these two reports, we've published an overview report on
the state of program evaluation and reporting. Specifically, the section
Evaluation Initiative[4]will give readers a snapshot on the state of
learning and evaluation in the movement.
We have come a long way, and we want to thank everyone who has been
involved in different parts of this initiative and especially those who
shared data with us! We still have a lot of work to approach together. We
need program leaders ideas and views to explore possible next steps. Some
potential areas for further investigation of Other Photo Events and Wiki
Loves Monuments are:
*
Do different types of photo events attract different types of users?
*
How can we apply the successes of low-cost, low-scale events to
other contexts?
Join the conversation on the Talk Page of both reports. Additionally, we
will host an event to present the reports and discuss them on
*Wednesday, May 6, at 1500 UTC.* We have heard back from some program
leaders that will not be able to make it, but as many of you know, it is
hard to find a time that works across the movement. We are unable to
move this virtual event, but*it will be recorded and available for the
public and commenting afterwards. *Join the event here:

*

*

*
