Hi everyone,
Would it be nice to have a special price for video's made for Wiki Loves
Monuments? We don't have an awful lot of user made video's and this
might be a fun way to promote it.
Maarten
Ps. http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Wiki_loves_monuments.ogg is a
nice first step :-)
Hi,
did I understand correctly, that pictures taking part from national
WLM competition have to follow the copyright rules on local Wikipedia.
And from European competition can take part only pictures that are
free enough for Wikimedia Commons.

Hi all,
on Friday May 13, 2011 there will be an international Wiki Loves Monuments
workshop in Berlin. This workshop will be organized by me and Maarten and
Wikimedia Deutschland.
Because we're organizing a European contest, we would like to make sure that
every participating country/region is going to be represented at this
workshop, so that we can coordinate matters, exchange experiences and help
wach other with problems.
*who is coming*
I would like to ask all participating countries to check with themselves who
will be going. There is a maximum of 25 participants, so please restrict
yourself in sending people. There will be no absolute maxima at this stage,
but I ask for your understanding. Please send *asap* on this list who will
be coming. We will then provide you with a code to register.
*costs*
The costs for this meeting will be 25-35 euro per night, incl breakfast and
your own travel costs. If you are representing a chapter that would like to
join WLM and to attend, but does not have the funds, please send your
details anyway, and let us know that you need financial support. We will
find a way to support you.
*program*
The program still will have to be figured out. However, on
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2011/Timeline
you
can find several topics that will have to be discussed.
*hackathon*
This workshop is coupled to the hackathon happening 13-15 May in Berlin too.
This allows for interaction with the developers, and ways to ask them to
help us write tools etc which we need. See for more information about the
hackathon: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Berlin_Hackathon_2011 . If you are
a developer, you will also be able to register there. Some developers might
also attend our workshop. If you're a developer, consider to hang around two
more days :)
If you have any questions, please ask them. I dont have to remind you that
we need to act quickly here, sorry for the delays, because the tickets will
get more expensive etc.
Best regards,
Lodewijk
Hello, I'm Elisardo from Wikimedia España.
We'd want to find some documents or presentations to explain WLM project in
meetings with Administrations and companies that could be sponsors or help
us with monument data. We are planning some interviews with other entities
in a few weeks and that kind of documents could be very helpful.
And I'd want to remark too Lodewijk's mail about sharing WLM works. If a
chapter has, for example, a document about ''How to make good photos at
Petroglyphs'', share it!, because if it's useful for you, probably it will
be useful to the others chapters too, and, at the same time, they could help
you to improve that material... It's wiki!! :)
Thanks!,
Elisardojm
Hello all,
So here we are. There were more than 50 submissions for the logo
competition, which I've had to trim down a bit ;) [1]
There are a lot of good ideas out there, and it's now time for the
choosing. Since this is your cap/mug/flyer that's going to be bearing
this logo, you should go and vote for your favorite logo!
It's happening here:
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monuments/Logo_contest…
Voting is opened until the 27 of April.
Have fun voting!
Best,
Delphine

Hi all,
As some here may already know, we will be celebrating WLM in Spain this year. Big challenge, but we hope to make a decent effort. :)
We are aware there is going to be a meet pretty soon in Berlin to discuss WLM in Europe. We would love to send a Wikimedia España/Spain member, Platonides (platonides(a)gmail.com), to learn and discuss and comment all organizational aspects and bring back relevant insights, but we would need financial support to do it. We were wondering if maybe WMDE (or any chapter, really) might be willing to pay the flight ticket and hotel?
We would be immensely grateful for your support. Please let me know who to contact to make this happen.
Thanks,
María

Hi Teele,
great to hear! Could you please share the designed materials? Maybe other
countries can use it, or even give suggestions :) A good way of sharing it,
is uploading it on Wikimedia Commons, and putting it in a subcategory of
[[category:Wiki Loves Monuments]].
Update sounds great! Rock on!
Lodewijk

>>
