Dear all,
a doubt:
is Instagram compatible with Creative Commons?
Can I upload *my* Instagram pics on Commons (so could it be used for WLM)?
Please consider that I'm not suggesting Instagram pics are good for WLM
(they are filtered and all, probably not very suitable for illustrating
monuments on Wikipedia)
but is a legal matter.
Aubrey
Hi all
I'd like to bring your attention to a conversation on the Wikidata project
chat about migrating the information in the Wiki Loves Monuments (WLM)
database to Wikidata as part of the Connected Open Heritage project.

Hello!
Do you need funds for your local Wiki Loves Monuments competition? If yes,
there are two options for funding:
1. Rapid Grants: For projects under USD 2,000. Applications accepted any
time.
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:Project/Rapid
2. Project & Event Grants: For projects over USD 2,000. *Applications
accepted until June 30th*.

After June 30th, all project grants over USD 2,000 will processed under the
new Project Grants program, with applications accepted quarterly. Open call
for the new program begins July 1 and decisions will be made October 7.
Cheers,
Alex

Hello Wikimedians,
We are excited to announce the launch of a new Wikimedia Foundation grants
program, Rapid Grants!
Rapid Grants fund Wikimedia community members -- individuals, groups, or
organizations contributing to Wikimedia projects -- to organize projects
throughout the year for up to USD 2,000. Projects can include experiments
or standard needs that don't need broad review to get started. Applications
are reviewed weekly by WMF staff.
Read more about the new program and apply here:

The Community Resources team is now recruiting committee members to support
the launch of two new grants programs [1]. *We are especially interested in
recruiting folks with expertise in the programs that we fund, including
photography competitions like WLE and WLM. *

promote new experiments and sustain ideas that work.
- Program launches July 1, 2016 with an open call for new grant
proposals.
- Up to USD 100,000 for projects up to 12 months. Submissions accepted
quarterly.
- Interested in joining? Learn more here:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:Project/Quarterly/Committee/Orientat…
- Submit your candidacy by July 15, 2016 to participate in the first
round.
The Conference Support Committee will review and advise on large
conferences and events.
- Program launches July 1, 2016.
- Submissions accepted monthly.
- Interested in joining? Learn more here:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:Conference/Committee/Orientation
- Submit your candidacy by June 1, 2016 to participate in the launch.
Why should you serve on a grants committee?
-
Make a big difference by supporting applicants and grantees that are
doing projects to improve content and increase participation across the
Wikimedia movement.
-
Build yours skills and experience by participating in our innovative
participatory grantmaking programs.
-
Interact with volunteers from all over the world.
Do you know somebody who you think would be perfect for this role?
-
We love referrals and want to build diverse committees! Please
encourage them to join.
Cheers,
Alex
