Dear all,
a doubt:
is Instagram compatible with Creative Commons?
Can I upload *my* Instagram pics on Commons (so could it be used for WLM)?
Please consider that I'm not suggesting Instagram pics are good for WLM
(they are filtered and all, probably not very suitable for illustrating
monuments on Wikipedia)
but is a legal matter.

Dear all,
If there is sufficient interest from the community, I will propose a workshop on the WLM participants' survey and the insights we can gather from it.
I think it is important that as many people involved in the organization of WLM 2012 and WLM 2013 as possible take part in the workshop, so we can get some collective sense making going.
So please sign up on the proposal page if you are interested:
https://wikimania2014.wikimedia.org/wiki/Submissions/What_can_we_learn_from…
It would certainly also be possible to present the results from the organizers' survey during the same workshop (possibly asking for a bit more time). Please let me know if that would be an option.
Concerning the participants' survey in 2014, we discussed with John Andersson about having one survey for all photo contests during this year.
Please let me know what you think. - Whether a participants' survey will be carried out this year at all, will probably also depend on the interest among WLM organizers. It's a lot of work; so I would suggest doing it only if there is a concrete demand for it. Any feedback is appreciated.
Kind regards,
Beat

Hi All,
I understand that Lodewijk has his expectation for the international
team. People from the previous years have set the standard to be very
high.
Having said that we need to focus on the present. Many countries are
organizing WLM. What value can we add to their competition if we have
an international team? What will be the cost associated with the
activities?
My opinion is that the minimal core tasks are:
1. Find an acceptable judging methods (including juries) to rank the
first 10 photos out of [number of countries] x 10. Make sure that
participating countries abide by the judging rules.
2. Procure and distribute awards.
3. (Not compulsory) Do some PR for WLM at the international level.
Collect statistics. Help countries that may have technical/financial
difficulty.
I believe that it is doable by the countries participate in WLM 2014.
You may ask for volunteers, you may ask for one representative from
each country or you organize an election if too many people want to
involve. But this has to be done now and conclude quickly...
What do you guys think?

Hi all,
I was approached about the international website, after Saqib's email about
this.
I see it this way: To the best of my knowledge, there is /no/ international
wiki loves monuments competition in 2014 - not enough people volunteered
for an international team. At the same time, there are some /national/
competitions that will be organized, but without a real international
layer.
This is no problem, as we discussed before the possibility to have Wiki
Loves Monuments international in odd years (2013, 2015 etc) and Wiki Loves
Earth international in even years (2014, 2016 etc).
This has the implication that I will alter the website sometime soon to
reflect this intention. I will remove the links to the national
competitions from the sidebar to avoid outdated information. I will link to
the commons page for more information about national competitions that may
or may not happen in 2014.
If my assumptions here are off the chart, then please speak up. If I
totally missed an announcement, please let me know.
Hope that helps and clarifies,
Lodewijk
HI folks,
We were having a look at the Piwik server for last year analytics for WLM
France.
September 2013 registered 10K visits, while September 2012 registered 190K
visits.
* Have other countries noticed a similar drop?
* What might be the cause in your opinion ?
** Server overwhelmed?
** Rotating CentralNotice, with less displays of the WLM banners?
** ...
Any ideas on how we could make sure this does not happen again?
Thanks!

Hi all;
I'm migrating the WLM maps from Toolserver to Labs.[1] I have also replaced
Google Maps with OpenStreetMap.
It is still in alpha stage, but works fine. I'm planning to show different
marker colours and more info in the popups. I'm open to suggestions and if
any of you want to collaborate in coding, it is on GitHub[2] and I can add
you as maintainer on Labs.

Hello all,
could someone who masters translations on commons update the main page of
the competition (
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2014 ) so
that everything can be translated ?
"Winning photos" and "Uploaded images" can't be translated, should be easy
to update but I think there'll be someone there able to do it without
breaking antyhing, unlike me :)
Thanks
Hi all,
I wonder who's behind the international site of WLM (http://wikilovesmonuments.org) ?
I wanted to add Pakistan WLM site address into the right side list of participating countries.
