Dear all,
On 27 October 2007 the Association Wikimedia Netherlands (Dutch chapter)
will organize the Wikimedia Conference Nederland for the second time. This
edition will have the theme "Wikis and education", and is targeting both the
Wikimedia communities and the education sector. To provide a balanced
program both interesting for the Wikimedia communities as for the visitors
from the education sector, it is important that a wide range of lectures is
provided.
The main language of the conference will be Dutch, but I would however like
to invite everybody to propose a talk in English if (s)he feels that it
would add something to the conference. I foresee that we will have several
talks in English, as not every subject can be covered by Dutch speakers.
The conference will consist of three tracks:
*Wikis for education (the use of wikis in the education sector)
*Wikitech (Technical developments and enhancements)
*Wikimedia Rainbow (a broad range of subjects related to Wikimedia)
Proposals can be sent until 1 July 20 to wcn <at> wikimedia <dot> org.
All proposals should contain: Title, summary (200-300 words),type of
presentation, track, the name and contact details of the lecturer and
possibly other notes. Please mention if you are able to cover the costs
for attending and speaking at the conference yourself or if you would
require reimbursement.
I hope to receive several proposals from abroad, and also hope that several
people will be able to visit the conference. We aim at having one
presentation in the English language in each time frame during the
conference, but cannot guarantuee that. Shortly the presubscriptions will
open. Please keep an eye on this list and/or the website of Dutch chapter.
The website will later on be provided with more English information.
Of course any input would be appreciated for the conference, as are tips for
appropriate speakers.
Best regards,
Lodewijk Gelauff,
Program coordinator Wikimedia Conference NL committee
After the registration system update on May 11, 7 days ago, system is
partly malfunctioning and caused register who selected to join Hacking
Days Extra and/or Citizen Journalism Unconference unable to register
and display "System error. Contact Wikimania 2007 Team." It will be
fixed soon after the system's upgrade on May 19.

Hello,
I want to apply for a visa for Taiwan, but the process here takes
several weeks to complete. So, I would really appreciate it if someone
from the organizing team could send an invitation letter to my email
address (dungodung(a)gmail.com), preferably in English and Chinese. The
text should be the usual (You are inviting me, yada yada, to stay in
Taipei, Chien Tan..., phone ... and I'll be staying from july 30th to
august 6th, etc.). My registration info is at 1b79e.
In order to get my visa as soon as possible, I want to apply tomorrow,
so it would be awesome if I could receive the letter during UTC night.
Thanks,
Filip
Hello, there is a confusing line at this page:
http://wikimania2007.wikimedia.org/wiki/Cancellation_Policy
Section : If you pre-registered with accomodation
"Cancellations filed before *Sunday 20th May 2007* Taipei,
UTC+8<http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/city.html?n=241>will be
taken into account and partially refunded. However, if you submit it
later than *20th July, 2007*, there will be no refund."
Is it 20 May or 20 July?
Thanks

Room Reservation and Alternative Announcement
According to the accommodation rule in the registration guideline, the
organization team will make a room alternative arrangement from May 15 to
May 31. To the time at this moment (22:00 May 12, UTC+8), we have 322
registrants and only 1/8 registrants had completed the process with payment.
We estimate there will be more scholarship awardees and paper submitters to
register in the near future. Thus, for better accommodation arrangement for
the participants, we will close the accommodation reservation in the
registration system temporarily and see if we could accept the accommodation
reservation in June again depends on the reservation status.
To avoid that the registrant might not get the accommodation reservation, we
would like to ask all participants (including scholarship winners and paper
submitters) to complete your registration process now if you need a room
reservation!
>From May 15 to May 31 the organization team will arrange rooms for
registrants who have already paid in the following orders: A. Registrants
who had completed his/her registration process with payment before May 15.
B. Registrants who have completed his/her registration process with payment
during May 15 to May 31. The earlier you complete the process, the sooner
you will get the room reservation. Please be aware that if you have
registered for attending Wikimania but still not finish the payment before
May 31, the organization team has the right to cancel your room reservation.
Any further questions, you may send to wikimania-registration(a)wikimedia.org.
Thanks for your cooperation!

Just as a reminder about the conference, the CfP deadline, and an
update on planning so far. Additions and editing welcome, of
course...

Hi maniacs.
I have done with registration form (https://wikimania.tw/registration/index.php)
this afternoon, after that, however, my web browser Opera crashed during
attempting payment at paypal session invoked from a form confirmation screen.
I've got a "Registration received" email from wm07reg(a)wikimania.tw,
including Confirmation Number.
(I expected a bit if there were a paypal link at registeration status querying
page if I have not finished payment, but that (my) idea seems somewhat
confusing though.)
In this situation, how could I pay by PayPal?
I thought these steps would work:
1. Login PayPal
2. Click "Send Money"
3.1. To: wm07reg(a)wikimania.tw
3.2. Amount: amount shown in the registration confirmation page
3.3. Currency: (USD)
If this is not correct, please tell me the right way.
Thanks in advance.
