Bob. The wall apparently is no more. It was tossed for being moldy
(which coincidentally is the name of the character I'm playing in
Henry iv).
There is some tragic lesson here.
Regretfully

Hi, Joy,
We are really talking about pants for men and pants or leggings (no
feet)
for women, although we'll probably end up saying bring things in more
than
one of the three colors (black, white, khaki) if you wish, (including
skirts
and tights) and we'll see what works/looks the best. I'll find Kathy's
email
showing her modeling fabric pieces, and send it out to all.
Cheers,

Dear Players,
Inspired by Gail's report of having seen performers all in black, wanting to
avoid sewing machines (we only have one week!), fired up about the theatricality
of it all, deferring a bit to the weather and thankful for Kathy and Jayne's
input, we have decided to forgo all-out costuming. Instead, each of us will
bring a basic costume or outfit for the performance, in your choice of all
black, all khaki or all white: pants or leggings, and shirt/top; and everyone
will wear sandals. (Bring your own sandals, too.)
We will then raid the Winedale costume shop - hats, shawls, vests, swords,
rubber chickens, fobs and bibelots ... and, courtesy of Jayne's mom, we'll have
big swatches of fabric ... all to gussy up our roles.
Heigh ho!

Maggie, you're not Anonymous if we know who you are.
Jayne's swath-modeling reminds me of a recent scifi novel by Neal Stephenson, in which monastic orders wear "bolts" -- big squares of cloth that they reshape around themselves as needed.

Love the fabric swatches as modeled by Kathy. I guess if I have an opinion about the clothing, it’s that I think choosing all black or all khaki or all white will probably look better than mixed pieces, since the pants and tops will probably all be different styles. If we had one kind of tee—short sleeved/round or v-neck for instance—that we all wore, then mixing up the colors might look fine. For what it’s worth.

Susan, here is what I think is the current state of affairs
COSTUMES: Yesterday, Mary invited feedback/input from the whole group, and the email conversation continues. My guess is that a consensus is emerging on various approaches, but I'll leave it to the Committee or some Oracle to summarize.
MONIES: For the Twelfth Night performance on August 7, we should all log onto the Sh.at Winedale website and pay for our individual ticket. (I think it's $25 dollars). This will save Doc the hassle of collecting and also make the Winedale staff happy. And for our guests attending the Reunion Performance on August 14, they should also be paying on-line even if we have already informed Doc that they'll be attending. For catering costs for the Aug. 14 brunch and banquet, Doc will be sending everyone a payment request next week; he does not know the total now. Additional monies may also be due to pay for the videographer, but I don't recall whether we have any further details on that item.

Hi all,
I've been doing my gig at the Huntington Library Shakespeare program for the past two weeks with very sketchy online access. (I'm a spoiled Austinite; wireless is easy and everywhere in Austin.)
I'm therefore a little lost in the mass of weeklongian emails--what to do and bring and wear and reserve--what monies need to be sent and where, etc?
Could some good someone write a clarifying-and-tidy list of what has been concluded in those regards?
xo,
Susan

Doc,
When I saw your earlier email today about paying on-line for our guests at the reunion performance for August 14, the thought occurred to me that we weeklongers could do the same thing for the August 7 performance of Twelfth Night if that will simplify things for you and/or placate the Ticket Reservation Gods. Just let us know.
Bob

Black/white/khaki sounds good to me as a backdrop for adornments.
But instead of tights or leggings and a top in one color, my vote would be for ANY combination of the three colors and INCLUDE skirts and pants and t-shirts, etc. For instance, a black skirt paired with a white top; khaki pants and black t-shirt; a white dress; black pants and black top; whatever. Seems like most of us could pull our costumes together from basics in our own closets and then find the adornments when we get there. That would make it easy.
Mary is right, there was no formal discussion of costumes. The idea for the fabric swatches came from an informal side discussion Kathy and I had. I think Kathy might have talked with a few of the committee members about it? I'm bringing the fabric whether we use it or not. But I think some of it will be great - easy capes, tablecloths, headscarves, etc. And NO SEWING!
To recap: Any combination of white, black, khaki. Pants, skirts, t-shirts, other tops, dresses, etc. That's my vote. But I'll go along with the crowd!

Dear Ancianos,
The Oracle's Vestal Virgins are now asking for a vote!
We wanted just pants for men and pants or leggings for women, and minimal other
adornments to suggest character (hats, scarves, yes, boots), in order to have as
must time as possible to work on scenes, thus avoiding choosing a costume and
then altering, washing, ironing, hemming, taping ... it also grew from the
notion we all 21 seemed to like that we might all be on stage as much as
possible, to serve whatever purpose might be needed: crowd, servants, nobles,
becoming a... door, etc. This seemed an exciting idea, but we are not saying
we'll do that, just reminding everyone of the idea.
Choosing owe you for those tights? (Well, you may want to use them, after all.)
We've realized the committee has had weeks to mull over the idea of some
uniformity underlying choices of accessories and props, but all of us have not
discussed it, so let's do so!
We want to play. We don't want to worry about costumes!!!

...at least that's the message I'm getting on the site. It may just be me, but when I went to the site I had no problem adding the $25 single tik for Twelfth Night on Aug. 7 to my cart. But when I went to add tiks for my family for the reunion performance it indicated that it was sold out (i.e. you could only enter "0" tickets for that performance). I tried calling the number on the site, but no answer.
I'm including SAW's Liz Fisher on this email. Liz, see Bob's email below. We're all trying to buy tiks for the final performance of Twelfth Night and the reunion performance.
Is anyone else having trouble? Doc, Liz, should we be paying some other way? I'm assuming that maybe it is showing "sold out" because Doc has alerted the SAW folks of our guest count.
Can someone please advise? Purchasing online is easiest, but I could also send a check.
Jayne

Could some good someone write a clarifying-and-tidy list of what has been concluded in those regards?
xo,
Susan

FYI - I, well Thomas, orders tickets for the 14th, the 7th, the 24th and the 31st. So we're covered Doc.
Jayne, I can't imagine any computer or man saying no to you. It must be in stars... I'm sure there is a place for you. BELIEVE it!
Much love!
J (p.s. remember - a huge strong material).
