It would (perhaps) be a good idea to place an informative page on the tswiki
on what the ISBNdb.com is, as well as this issue and the proposed resolution.
If you make a category for that page as well as affected projects, we'd have
a central location to check to see what tools need to be updated.

Hello there!
I have spoken to Andrew Maltsev from ISBNdb.com Support. Lately
Toolserver's IP was blocked for our API, because we were using
different accounts, which is against their policy. I explained that to
him, that we are different users, that is why all the requests come
from the one and only IP. He is very polite and understanding, already
re-enabled my ISBNdb key. And here goes my announcement:
If you do have a tool that uses ISBNdb API, contact Andrew Maltsev at
support(a)isbndb.com and tell him about you being the Toolserver user,
about your tool and ask him to re-enable your key.
So far I have seen that Magnus Manke and User:? (gradzeichen) are
using ISBNdb API. Anyone else, who is using the API, pwetty pwetty
pwease, contact their support. I think, we prolly can make some bigger
collaboration with their project for the good of all of us. I don't
have any ideas so far, so brainstorm could be useful. :)
Thanks in advance!

hi,
s2 is now replicating again. assuming there are no more problems, it should
be up-to-date within 24 hours.

hi,
due to problems at Wikimedia, the s2-master server's binlogs were corrupted.
this means replication on s2 is now halted.
re-starting replication will require dumping the cluster and re-importing it on
zedler. this means it will be at least a few days before replication is
re-started.

Hi all
We have all seen the problem that some script or bot we have come to rely upon
suddenly dies. Or fails to restart when the toolserver is rebooted. Putting
something into cron to be run on @reboot sadly doesn't always work, for example
because the home directory may not yet be mounted when cron runs reboot jobs.
So, after a short discussion on IRC, i wrote a script to take care of this. I
called if phoenix, it's available in the system path on nightshade and hemlock.
Phonix just starts whatever command you give to it, but it first checks if that
command is already running. If it is already running, phoenix does nothing. So,
just call phonix from cron every few minutes to make sure your bot is restarted
when it dies.
For example, if you want to run 'mybot', call this every few minutes from cron:
phoenix /tmp/yourname-mybot /home/mydir/bin/mybot someparam
The path /tmp/yourname-mybot is the base fir the PID and output files - output
fill be written to /tmp/yourname-mybot.out, the processes pid will be stored in
/tmp/yourname-mybot.pid.
The second parameter, /home/mydir/bin/mybot, is the program to run. Anything
following that are parameters to pass to this program.
Please try it out and tell me about any problems! phoenix also prints a short
help message when called without any parameters.

PS: I'm sure this wheel has been invented before... any pointers?
Hello all,
for an more or less unknow reason nightshade had have problems with the nfs
tonight. The only sollution that I found was a (hard) reboot. I doubt that
all user-scripts started automaticaly at reboot so please check.
The other roots and I will investigate that further in a few hours after my
sleep.
Good night everybody,
DaB.

Hello,
I have problems with my php-scripts that have a bigger output since we
use fastcgi on toolserver.
I wrote a little demo script to show the problem:
http://toolserver.org/~kolossos/image/test.php
source code:
http://toolserver.org/~kolossos/image/test-source.php
The script should counts 100 times to 100 and printed out. But it stops
before it's ready.
Can anyone solve the problem or can give me an Addhandler to use good
old cgi via .htaccess-file?
Greetings Kolossos
