Hello all,
I plan to change the disc-partition-structur of hemlock at Thursday 20:00 UTC.
A part of this work has to do without users so all tools and bots will be
down for a short while.
Sincerly,
DaB.
hello,
i'm now testing Fisheye for web-based svn browsing:
http://infra.ts.wikimedia.org/fisheye/
please file a bug in the Toolserver project if you'd like your subversion
repository added.

Hello all again,
because I need to reboot hemlock during the changing of the disc-structur
anyway, that's a good timestamp to test your @reboot-cron-scripts. Please
check that you
*use absolute paths ("/home/dab/foo/bar" and not "foo/bar")
*read the man-page about screen carefuly if you use screen ("-d -m" is not the
same as "-dm" for screen)
*give the execute-right to your shell-scripts.
(If somebody as a good idea too, feel free to reply)
If you did all this and your @reboot-cron-scripts didn't start after the
reboot, fill in informations to bugreport [TS-16].
Thank you all :).
Sincerly,
DaB.
My only tool that uses MySQL properly is coughing and throwing my
hastily scribbled error code from the status file that s2 is down.
What's wrong with it?
Thanks,
Sean
hello,
our (experimental) new bug tracker is now available at:
http:/infra.ts.wikimedia.org/jira/
if you want your own project, please file a bug in the Toolserver category.
sorry, all bugs in the old tracker were lost :-(
- river.
Hello all,
perhaps anybody (someone?) didn't notice it: The msql-db on zedler (=S2 and
userdatabases) crashed. The restore is in progress, please wait a bit.
We get many questions from tool-user "The tool xyz does not work" or "Why is
the toolserver defect/crashed/explode?".
To inform our tool-user better in future, I created some files:
http://tools.wikimedia.de/status_s1 (same for s2 and s3).
I think that ERRO and DOWN should be compulsive for tools, INFO and WARN is
optionally.
I plan to update the rules for this at October 1, so please use the time to
update your tools. Suggestion are of corse very welcome :).
Sincerly,
DaB.
Sometimes, I didn't know on which server I work, because I use as
mysql-host:
$lang."wiki"."-p.db.ts.wikimedia.org"
I'm happy about this solution.
These are multilingual script and I don't want to think about on which
server the special language is.
I don't think that it is really neccesary to change the rules in future.
Else, one which from me: Could someone write a script so that I only
need to include it.
Greetings

A small typo in these files... several times it says "planed" such as
"#A Information (like a planed maintaince in far future)."
The correct english word here is "planned"... there is also some a/an
confusion and some other minor typos....
In fact here is the entire http://tools.wikimedia.de/status_s1 file,
but with my suggested corrections incorporated into it...
# This file shows the status of S1
#
# The format is
# STATUS;Text
#
# Lines with # at the beginning are comments.
#
# The following STATUSes are possible:
#
# OK:
# All Ok, nothing to show.
#
# INFO:
# An Informational message (like a planned maintenance activity in
thefar future).
# Please show the line in your tools as information to give users
notice.
#
# WARN:
# A Warning (like a planned maintenance activity in the near future).
# Please show the line in your tools as information to give users
notice.
#
# ERRO:
# An Error (like a unplanned maintenance activity or some other issue)
# Please show the text instead of your tools
# (or be very sure that your tools do work).
#
# DOWN:
# Like ERRO, but planned.
#
OK;
#EOF
#
Hope that is of some help. I think being able to show canned status
from the system is a nifty idea, thanks for making it happen.

The folder
/mnt/aux0/archiv/geodata
disappeared from the toolserver. It is crucial for the operation of the
WikiMiniAtlas. Is there any way it could be restored?
(sorry for list-posting this, but Bugzilla is down)
