Hi all,
We were developing the content curriculum for the Kenyan curriculum so that we could have a custom-made offline Wikipedia version for us here: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Offline_Projects/Content_Development/Schools…. Is there anyone who is still working on this? As of now we have articles on Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Mathematics, IRE, Agriculture, History & Geography. We don't have articles on Business Studies & CRE. Articles re Physics, Math, and Geography are too few and still need to be increased. Is there anyone here who has access to the Kenyan curriculum willing to fill in the blanks?
Thanks to Steve & Dennis on adding some articles.

Hi all,
During the Berlin Conference, we committed Wikimedia Kenya to an intent to
join the Chapters Council (Also referred to as the Wikimedia Chapters
Association - WCA) by signing the Berlin Agreement [1]
Now a committee of 4 members with equal powers (WCA Interim Secretariat)
selected to hold the position of interim secretary general for WCA have
just published a draft for the WCA standing orders as explained in the
forward below. We are to select a representative to the association's
council.
In my opinion, our representative should be someone familiar with the
runnings of other chapters and the Wikimedia Movement in general and
available to followup on WCA online and physical meetups and discussions so
as to give our chapter updates of the same. Being a Board member is a plus *but
not necessary*.
Any volunteers/nominees?
cheers,
Alex

Hi all,
So as a build up from action items on Saturday's meetup, We've (Steve and
I) managed to get a list of sites and monuments from the National Museums
of Kenya <http://www.museums.or.ke/> totaling up to around 277 throughout
Kenya.
Now the list comprises of gazetted sites and monuments meaning they are
legally recognized and protected. From our discussions with the Museum's
directorate of sites and monuments, there are other un -
gazetted/"discovered" monuments going to the thousand that the museum is
working to get on their list. The Museum also has documentation of several
of the items on the list so getting articles once we hace pictures is also
a high potential
So the question remains is whether we have enough to proceed with
organizing a Wiki Loves Monnuments competition. Though I think whether or
not we do, we should still have a goal of getting items on the list on
Commons and Wikipedia.
cheers,
Alex
Hello Folks,
Just checking on the above item that I believe one of use volunteered and
is working on. I am swamped by requests from newbies who really want
to know what WMKE is and how they can get involved. Whoever it was, please
let me know the progress and where we can help.

Hi guys,
I've posted Victor's message here:
http://wikimedia.or.ke/KenyaStoryTelling#Victor in preparation for when
he'll come to Kenya this August. I'll soon have it up on Wikipedia en and
sw. I need a Swahili translation for the message so anyone up to it, do
write one on the talk page, I've provided a link.
cheers,
Alex

Hello,
Being an election year here in Kenya I took it upon me to watch some
politicians pages especially for those who have declared that they would be
running for the top seat (presidency).
I have noted that some guys have been vandalizing some of the pages with
propaganda and malicious wording. These vandals have been doing this
anonymously and the only trails they leave is the IP addresses.
For instance, how does one put in Kalonzo Musyoka's article that the link
to his homepage is musaliamudavadi.com?See [1] below.
Wikipedia should be neutral as it always has been. Orange Kenya just
launched Wikipedia Zero and the citizenry will definitely want to look for
local content on Wikipedia, and top among them will be the presidential
hopefuls due the political heat in the country. If they come across such a
silly and malicious mistake then the reputation of Wikipedia will
definitely be tarnished or it would lose respect.
To that end, we need to lay down measures to prevent this from happening
now and in the future. The Wikimedia Foundation is trying to penetrate the
global south and gaining trust is key to this success.
regards,
Stephen.

Hello Folks,
Alex and Abbas have been doing a great job changing the structure of our
Wikimedia Kenya website which looks awesome[1] as of now. However there
various bits that still remain to be fine tuned like various imports of
templates and such stuff.
If you might notice a link like http://wikimedia.or.ke/Events is showing
that it is pointing to an external page 'Asaf's visit to Kenya' yet that
very same page is within our Wiki website. Input in that line would be
highly appreciated and is anticipated. There are definitely other
structural bits that are still been fine tuned and hopefully the site shall
be complete in due course, like importing some templates blah blah
Otherwise, I look forward to meeting all of you tomorrow, Oh! Not all but
those who have RSVP'ed to the event:)
Ciao!
