The issue of putting up updates on our site -especially when it comes to long ones that need to be documented for future reference - has been raised a couple of times but to no avail.
I'll have an adequate amount of free time from 19th this month so I'll go through our list's archives and put some of the lengthy emails we've had on our site. It's my hope that this will set a presedence of documenting important updates.
Cheers,
Alex.

Hi all,
I am of the opinion that we be posting issues on the site rather than the
mailing list for easy follow up.
this has been necessitated by the response on the mailing list, there are
Discussion topics that should be kept for future reference so that those who
will join later will have the benefit of following exactly on how the
chapter started (the Most Notable ones to me the are the pilot updates,
Bruce thread, the thread on Chapter formation- all this have made to site
forum). To me the best place for this is the site forum(Hoping we have One)
In that case I propose the following:
1. Post a discussion topic on the wikimedia kemya site.
2. After posting you alert members through the mailing list.
3. The members to reply on the site not the mailing list.
4. Site moderator to check on the posts to ensure it meets the site
etiquette/ wiki code of conduct.
5. If a post does not meet the code of conduct the moderator will alert the
owner of the discussion post who will inturn review and then re post or
cancel it all together.
N/B this are my personal opinions and I hope it wont offend any member
please add more suggestions on how the posting on the site should be done.

HI ALL! Wow! Personally having completed our pilot one month ago, would want to CONGRATULATE everyone for their dedication and team spirit which led to the success of this project. Good leadership comes from a combination of many things, ability to learn from past mistakes, ability to organize a strong team and much more which our leaders Abbas,Oscar and Steve have shown and KUDOS for that. Even those who are not leaders but go the extra mile to ensure better coordination we SALUTE you! Cheers, LILIAN.

Hello Steve,
I agree that we would require an account becouse at some point we will be asking for grants, donations or something, and other than the foundation,I dont think anybody else would be willing to deposit money in personal account.
At this stage that we are still not a legal entity,I find it tricky to form such a partnership. It is a great idea though.

However, when we make a mistake with TSLG, we have the law to answer.

Hello,
When I proposed this project, I couldn't imagine it would be a success. I was just checking the archives, and I remember that, back in late 2010 i called for a meetup so as to suggest this project but we had to cancel it due to lack of quorum. But then, somehow, the disillusionment faded and people became more and more enthusiastic in participating in this project.
i also remember back then when we were only four of us (Oscar, Oliver, Dennis and myself) at our first meetup at Java -- and we wanted to start up a chapter. From the four initial members, we have grown exponentially within 6 months to around 50 members on this list. I am really proud of us! Really!
>From a boys' only team to almost a 75%:25% male:female chapter. I really feel that I need to highlight some of these flashbacks so that we (or at least I) can realize and appreciate where we've come from.
I would like to congratulate you all for the success of this project, and most importantly, I would like to congratulate on-the-ground team members who sacrificed their time off work, off internships and off university and went to these schools in order to ensure that students in Nyeri, Kakamega and Mombasa could have free access to Wikipedia.
I would also like to send my condolences to those who couldn't make it like Samson Maosa. I extend my condolences to the Nyeri team whose laptops were virus-infected.
But, as David hinted in his most recent email, this is not the end. This was just a pilot. For those of you who were with me since the start of this project, you might remember that we had a list of 10 regions. So we still have a lot of work ahead of us. And I think that we all agree that we need to design an offline version of Wikipedia that is custom-made for Kenyan students. I therefore hope that this project will not end here.
FYI- One of the Foundation's strategic priorities lies in investing in mobile Wikipedia and offline products. Speaking of offline products, has anyone of you ever heard of WikiReader? It's a device that you could use to access Wikipedia without internet connectivity and which you could update newer articles whenever you connect it to the internet. It goes for just $100 on Amazon. Just thought I'd let you know of this incredible device.
BTW -- this might be slightly off-topic, but I'd thought that I'd let you know that I was informed that we arguably have the most multi-national chapter mailing list in the Wikimedia community!!!
Warm regards,
