Good to hear! I signed up too.
Also I had a substantial conversation with Jami Mathewson and the Simons
Foundation. It is good to be partners with them. (It was a surprise that
they stepped in on "our" event, but they were boldly trying to move the
agenda forward so I try to remember to be flexible. Now we are partners
which is fine.)
They had funding and were able to reserve a large room so now there is room
for 25 attendees to edit in each of the four sessions, and as many as five
Wikimedians to walk around to help.
We will also have presenters to show beginners how to get going. We may
have enough, or not -- not clear yet.
So I encourage you Wikimedians with an interest in science or science
policy to sign up. If selected, you can attend the rest of this otherwise
expensive AAAS conference.
Sign up here on the AAAS site to "moderate" (help):
http://meetings.aaas.org/wikipedia/ (regular attendees of the conference
will also sign up to join us at a different form there)
Please do that by Feb. 3.
Optionally, put to-do items on the event page:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Meetup/DC/AAAS2016 (but that
doesn't get you admitted).
Same links are on our chapter calendar at
http://wikidc.org. Questions?

edit-a-thons, February 13–14
Hi Wikimedia DC folks,
As a part of the Year of Science
<https://wikiedu.org/blog/2016/01/19/wikipedia-year-of-science/>, the
Wiki Education Foundation will join the Simons Foundation at the annual
meeting for the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS),
on February 13th and 14th in DC, where they will host several Wikipedia
edit-a-thons.
They're looking for DC-area community members who are interested in
attending the event to moderate 1–4 of the sessions. The Simons Foundation
will cover the registration cost for any moderators, so you'll also be able
to attend other parts of the conference that weekend.
