Hello everyone,
Many of you know Kevin Chen, who has served as Vice President of Wikimedia
DC over the past six months. For those of you who have not had the
pleasure of working with him, I will say that Kevin has been a major force
in the development and professionalization of Wikimedia DC over the course
of the last year, first as a member of our Legal Committee, and then as a
Director and as Vice President.
Unfortunately, Kevin will be moving out of the DC area in the near future.
As he will consequently be unable to devote a signifiant amount of time to
Wikimedia DC activities, Kevin is stepping down from his positions as
Director and Vice President. The Board of Directors has accepted Kevin's
resignation with great regret; we are all deeply grateful for Kevin's many
insightful contributions to the development of our chapter, and are looking
forward to working closely with him again at some point in the future.
To fill Kevin's seat until the next regular election this October, the
Board of Directors has appointed Tom Risen as a Director and to the
position of Vice President. Tom is a professional journalist who has
recently been assisting with some of our outreach initiatives; we are
certain that he will prove a valuable asset to our organization.
Please join me in welcoming Tom to the Wikimedia DC family!
Cheers,
Kirill
