I can say after getting to talk much more over the past month with the
people working for the Foundation who never post on public lists or
wikis, that no part of the foundation forgets its volunteer basis.
The general sense I got from staff was a bit of awe of the volunteer
community, a desire to be supportive, and a desire for a clearer
indication of where the community wants to go.
As to the proliferating mail lists: it doesn't help me at all. Who
benefits from it? The overall traffic on almost all lists is
dramatically down -- by 90% in many cases.

What to do about this?
