Glad to hear all is ready and all things neat.
Be there or be square. See you there.

Three days to go. Bring shorts, t-shirts, sunscreen, that's for sure.
And a hat. I'll have the bug spray and gatorade. Take pains, be
perfect.

Okay, now I'm going back to line studying.

For all you Los/Las Mas Ancianos, you might not recall that the other great institution that began in 1970 in Central Texas was the Armadillo World Headquarters.
Bring back any memories? (Okay, save the stories for the back porch!)
KUT Austin is playing songs from all the performers who played at the 'Dillo, in chronological order, from the day it opened until its final show, starting this morning... Jerry Jeff on right now, "Desperadoes Waiting for a Train"....

For those of you weeklongers who didn't see the note I sent to Winedale-l
about "drop-in" visits from alums, I'm appending it here. (I tried to
anticipate weekenders' as well as weeklongers' needs. I also warned that
visitors may be drafted into some kind of labor or other -- with this group
that may sound like an attraction rather than a warning.)
As an extra added bonus, and if you want diversion from panicking about your
lines, drop me a private note, and I'll forward you the nasty letter I got
from the Deputy Director of the FBI this week, and the cheeky FU letter I
sent them back. PDF readers required.

Subject: Visits during reunion week, Aug. 8-15 -- some notes!
To: Shakespeare at Winedale 1970-2000 alums <winedale-l(a)lists.wikimedia.org>
Dear folks,
You may remember that in Doc's omnibus invitation for the Reunion Week
festivities, he invited all Shakespeare at Winedale alums to drop in and
visit during the week-long and weekend workshops. This is just a note to
remind all of you considering a drop-in visit that *you're still invited to
do this*. The Reunion workshop groups look forward to seeing you!
Some small cautions:
1) If you drop in mid-week, make sure to bring your own food or make plans
to eat elsewhere -- we know the workshoppers are going to have food for the
in-residence folks, but probably nothing extra to share during that time.
(Of course it's hoped that everyone will eat together at the big group
brunch and BBQ events on Saturday the 14th.)
2) You may want to avoid a "drop in" visit on Sunday the 8th or Monday the
9th -- the ancianos, ancient and slow of study as they are, may need the
first couple of days to find their feet on the old stomping grounds. (The
weekenders may need some time too -- you may want to email around and ask
about the best times/days to visit.)
3) If you want to stay overnight during "drop-in" visits, or during the
Reunion Weekend itself, you'll want to secure reservations at a
hotel/motel/B&B nearby, if you haven't done so already. A good place to
start is http://www.roundtop.org .
4) If you show up and have time to kill, be prepared to be dragooned into
such tasks as running lines, watching scene work, etc. You may end up being
used mercilessly. You know what that's like. Oh, and just to be clear -- you
*will* be asked to run lines!
(Of course, you may be attending the regular summer performances on the 7th
or 8th -- don't interpret any of these cautions with regard to the Reunion
troupers to apply to your normal Winedale plans to view the current class's
performances.)
--Mike
Sounds great.
Thanks, Doc.

Subject: [Weeklong-l] Seven Days To Go!
OK, so why don't we drop the Texas Chainsaw discussion for "Happy
Days"? We are but a week from those. Here's the latest news.
1. Directions to The Shelby Inn: Take any route you've found on
Mapquest but here are the simple directions: imagine yourself driving
to Winedale but you miss the final turn toward the barn. That's
good. Continue on HWY 1457 for some 5 miles until you encounter the
intersection of HWY 1457 and HWY 389. Turn RIGHT on HWY 389. At THE
VERY NEXT OPPORTUNITY ( a short block), turn left. You will soon see
balloons on a gate on your left. Enter there. Mary and I and some
Shiner and cheese will be welcoming you. As noted in "THE FINAL
REUNION SCHEDULE," YOU SHOULD PLAN TO ARRIVE BETWEEN 4 AND 5 ON AUGUST
7. My cell phone is 979-249-7125.
2. Bekah Meyer (Bruce's daughter) will be joining the "Weeklong"
Reunion group as my assistant, serving as a flunkie, gopher, jenny of
all trades. Bekah performed in Camp Shakespeare for 6 years, has
served as Intern for the last two summers, and will enter George
Washington University in DC in September to study Shakespeare. She
may not know all of you but she know the territory (costumes,
lighting, props, etc). She will be staying at The Shelby Inn with
you. She may well remind us all of the beginnings.
3. I have talked to James about costumes. His class will be
organizing those for packing this next week but will not store them
until you have a chance to go though them to find what accessories you
want to use. There may be a chance for you to grab those on Sunday or
Monday morning.
4. Remember to send checks for Brunch ($13.00) and BBQ ($12.00) to me
as soon as you can. They should be made out to The University of
Texas and marked "for" Brunch/BBQ. Thanks. My address is P.O. Box
202, Round Top, Tx. 78954.
6. I regret the confusion about reservations for the performance. I
have had no control over what has happening. All that I know for sure
at this point is that IF you have notified me of how many seats to
save for you, I promise that you will indeed have them. IF you have
paid for them on line, they are secure as well. Anyone on my list who
has NOT made on-line reservations may pay for them at the performance.
Reservations are now closed. SRO.
I'll likely be reminded of some other things, but that's it for now.
Cheers,
Doc
