Mother Tekla is really well located and it would seem like an event that
is centrally located will be easier for press people to reach. In terms
of costs, is there any chance that UTC (http://www.utcbangalore.in/) has
space for us? They are equally well located and apparently charge
reasonable rates for the auditorium. I'm not sure how to check but
Bangalore NGOs like ALF have had events there and might know.
In terms of the other options. I'm not sure it makes sense to hold the
event at a commercial firm (not an event like this at any rate). And
from previous experience, I've found that the press doesn't easily make
it to events held outside central Bangalore.
However, this is just my personal opinion, I don't mean to be demanding :)

I called Chowdiah just to check charges - 65K for the full day on
weekdays, 85K for weekends, so no go it seems (at this price, Mother
Tekla would be a better bet). One thing about the TERI space that needs
to be brought to their attention is that the toilets smell a little -
affecting the main auditorium. The other thing about TERI is that the
whole upstairs space comes included in the package, and I think it could
seat another 100 people quite comfortably (so that's something to consider).

Hi all,
Time is running out and we need to quickly decide upon the venue for Wiki X
event.
Few options :-
1 ) TERI, near CIS can seat upto 100-150 will cost us 11.5 k. in the city
but lesser Capacity, no seperate spaces for parallel tracks.
2 ) IIIT B, Electronic city - Huge auditorium can seat 300 and even more on
other classrooms. Mostly might be free venue, IIITB students attending event
and enthusiastic management but distance from city.
3 ) Intuit,Global village, ORR - Can seat upto 150-200 people mostly might
be free, slightly out of city, but can attract "IT crowd".
Please let the list know of your opinions for us to decide on it sooner.
Sooner the better :) Thanks.

Hi folks,
As many of you already know , we are celebrating the Wikipedia
10th anniversary event @ Bangalore. More details can be found here :
http://ten.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bangalore
With less than 3 weeks to go, we haven't even decided the exact date, venue
& the guest speaker and it is high time we all put our efforts into full
throttle !
I know Srikanth L ( logicwiki) / Manish ( SBC-YPR) is leading the effort,
but we require large number of volunteer contributions to this effort. A
larger participation & leadership from the chapter folks is humbly
requested, without which we cannot take it forward.
Folks who are definitely attending/volunteering , kindly signup as early as
possible.
http://ten.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bangalore#Volunteers ( *URGENT*)
It is also time to divide the tasks among us . Please "Be Bold" and
volunteer :)
http://ten.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Bangalore#Volunteers.2FTasks_for_each_ac…
*URGENT*)
We also have to finalise whether we want a morning-evening event or only
afternoon-evening event...If we are planning for a morning-evening event, we
need to arrange the lunch for the attendees ( either paid or free) . Without
arranging lunch ( whether paid /free) , there will be chaos / confusions
/delays for an all day event ( prior experience from Chennai wikimeetup
event). We need to have some insights on how to meet the operational
expenses for the day.
It will be great if we have a clear picture of the plans like atleast
venue/speaker/lunch/expenses atleast before new year.
Requesting help & co-operation from all.

Hi,
Bangalore Wikipedia/Wikimedia Wikimeetups are run and organised by
volunteers/wikipedians.
If you are free, motivated and interested, you are highly encouraged to help
organise the next Wikimeetups. We usually meet on every second sunday of
every month.
This is a To do list/step by step guide on setting up & organising the
regular Wikimeetups in Bangalore.

Feel free to add anything that I have possibly missed.
