Hello
I already posted this problem and got no answer.
I also send this mail to MySql as I do not know if MediaWiki or MySql is a the
origin of the problem.
Here is the description of what happened :
I am using MySql to store two MediaWiki databases named dftdb and framesdb
I am using MySql 4.1.20
I am using MediaWiki 1.9.3
I am using Scientific Linux 4.4
Each week I backup the directory /var/lib/mysql
On Wednesday I lost the /var partition, the mysql version,
the apache and php5, MediaWiki was the only one to stay alive.
I reinstalled the same versions of mysql, apache, php5 that were
running before the crash.
I copy the the saved /var/lib/mysql directory
A third old wiki running under Mediawiki 1.3 was correctly recovered
but, the new two new Wikis running under MediaWiki 1.9.3 I give the following
message :
MediaWiki internal error.
Original exception: exception 'DBQueryError' with message 'A database error has
occurred
Query: SELECT value,exptime FROM `dft_objectcache` WHERE
keyname='dftdb-dft_:messages-hash'
Function: MediaWikiBagOStuff::_doquery
Error: 1016 Can't open file: 'dft_objectcache.ibd' (errno: 1) (localhost)
' in /home/dft/public_html/mediawiki/includes/Database.php:708
under phpMyAdmin these databases have no Type defined for the 33 tables
excepted 3 which have MyiSAM type.
The Collation column give "in use".
If somebody could tell me what hapenned ?
How a running database could become unreadable after reinstalling Mediawiki.
Is it possible that this were connected with the InnoDb type which is
the default used by phpMyAdmin at database creation ?
Thanks

I have seen you can change the interface language by changing the
$wgLanguageCode in LocalSettings.pohp and then running rebuildMessages.php
but this is a permanent change of interface.
I am looking to allow my Spanish and Italian speaking users the ability to
switch to their native language or have it flagged against their user ID
when they log in.
So, I log in and see the wiki in English. Manuel logs in and see it in
Spanish, Luigi sees it in Italian. Article content is as posted.
Does Mediawiki support this? I understand the article content will be in the
language posted but am trying to change the interface, menus etc.
Thanks,
Paul
Dear all,
I've just installed wiki, but it uses urls like this:
www.mysite.com/w/index.php?title=page_title
how do I do to make it work as www.mysite.com/wiki/page_title?
Please, forgive me for my dummy questions.

We are looking at using Mediawiki as the source of information for our
IT infrastructure. Since Wikipedia is a giant knowledge base, why not
our IT docs?
Here are a couple of questions that we have.
1) There are many existing docs, some of which we would like to move
into MW. We can save a word document to *.html (using this we get a
warning from word that it might not be able to use the format :) but we
get a lot of extra bits. It appears that the style classes it creates
at the beginning are not usable in the wiki document.
Is there a way to include these? Do I have to create another skin? Or
is there a better way to bring these documents over?
2) As we move forward we are looking to create a 'template' for the
various types of documents we have including Project Scope, Project
Technical Design and Project Functional Design.
I have been looking at the docs and 'templates' and wonder if I have
missed something. Is there an easy way to create a 'template' (a
complete page with all tables, headings etc create) and then when you
want a new page simply bring that document in instead of the blank edit
panel
3) As we all know, change can be a very intimidating thing. With this
in mind we are looking for ways to be able to edit, especially new
documents, with some form of WYSIWYG type editor. Is there any that
have been used successfully with MW? Any stories that you would like to
share on how you use these
4) One of our documents is really a large spreadsheet. This works well
for the data analysis. But I am wondering how MW will handle a large
table. This might be something better to store in a secondary page and
link from the 'Data Analysis' heading page
I hope these questions are not outside of the scope of this list. If
you prefer I will be happy to take all questions, comments off line
Thank you very much

I found information in the defaultsettings.php for setting up email. As
normally I should be able to cut/paste and uncomment. Right? (I put my
guesses for my replacements in uppercase)
/**
* SMTP Mode
* For using a direct (authenticated) SMTP server connection.
* Default to false or fill an array :
* <code>
* "host" => 'SMTP domain', FOOBAR.COM
* "IDHost" => 'domain for MessageID', FOOBAR.COM
* "port" => "25", 25
* "auth" => true/false, FALSE
* "username" => user, ''
* "password" => password ''
* </code>
*
* @global mixed $wgSMTP
*/
$wgSMTP = false; TRUE
Now this appears to be setting for an array but the array does not
appear to be defined in the code.
What am I missing?
Basically I want to be able to send 'notifications' when the page
changes. I tested first on the 'create user' confirmation and that is
when I got errors.

Hi List,
Want to ask if there is an extension to have on the Mainpage "dynamicly"
added the newst articel in our wiki.
And is there any nice FAQ Extension? Well an extension to FAQ-pages.
Thanks,
Oliver
I am trying to get the "Email someone this page" link to appear directly
below, but just outside, an info box. The info box appears on the right of
the page but the link is appearing on justified to the left.
The code for the Template:InfoBox is below. I am sure the tweak required is
minor but after spending an hour playing with it I am running out of
patience.
Oh, and thanks to those that pointed me at this email to a friend solution!
Thanks,
Paul
