I just installed the 1.2.2 release, and everything went reasonably
well. I used the update.php script. However, I did notice one thing
that appears to be a bug. The $wgAllMessagesEn array includes values
for "sitesupport" and "sitesupportpage," and the instructions say
that if "sitesupportpage" is not set, the donations link "won't
appear." The problem is that it didn't appear even when I DID set
"sitesupportpage" to the URL of our donations page.
I was able to get it working by adding the following line to LocalSettings.php:
$wgSiteSupportPage =
"https://www.groundspring.org/donate/index.cfm?ID=2344-0|1118-0";
I figured this out by noticing that inside DefaultSettings.php, there
is a line that reads:
$wgSiteSupportPage = "";
This should do something more intelligent, such as setting
$wgSiteSupportPage to the value of "sitesupportpage," shouldn't it?

Hi,
due to the problems I was having with the current CVS version, I tried
the release candidate that Brion mentioned.
However, it seems that the following input text:
Test - [[Test]] - Test
yields the following output:
Test - - Test
In other words, it just removes links.
Interestingly, it *does* work if the link contains a namespace name:
Test - [[Talk:Test]] - Test
yields (correctly):
Test - <a href="/~ajh65/w/wiki.phtml?title=Talk:Test&action=edit"
class='new' title ="Talk:Test">Talk:Test</a> - Test

I've recently started using Mediawiki, and one of the things I've noticed is that if you don't ignore notice level errors from PHP, you get a lot of warnings about undefined variables. So, I've started work on fixing this, and have attached a patch that fixes the most common of the problems.
I've been testing these for a few days now, without any problems, but would appreciate other people looking over the patch too, see if they can see any flaws in what I've done.
Also, who would I send this patch to, to get it included in Mediawiki?

Keep in mind that the pre-final of this article was finished on Jan 22. I

I would like to install MediaWiki on a remote server to which I do not have
root access. PHP 4.2.3 and MySQL 3.23.49 are available. Has anyone here done
this before, or know of someone who has? If so, I would like to contact
him/her.
Also, I would like to be able to install MediaWiki by unpacking the files
into the directory of choice, run an installation script in my browser into
which I input my host, directory, database, and software version
information, run a configuration script to setup admin accounts, display
preferences, and the like, and start using the product. Is there any
possibility of this being implemented in the near future?
I hope that I am not asking for too much....

Someone might have already reported this, but I figured I might as
well, too.
It seems that the custom text that was previously available on the
[[Special:Booksources]] page (replacing the default four-site list) has
disappeared. Is there an alternative method to change the list and
have the automatically-generated ISBN number links created?

Is there a preference where we can enforce the size limit on uploads to
the wiki? Yesterday, I had a newbie who uploaded a 1.2 *megabyte* BMP
image to the site. It would be useful if users were not permitted to
override the "recommended" size setting. Is there a preference where I
can set that?
