Hi Fellow Wikimedians,
As part of our 2023 Grant, the Wikimedia Ghana User Group decided to cover
the 2023 African Games as part of efforts to boost images around the
African Games on Wikimedia Commons.
The Wikimedia Ghana User Group has made a significant contribution by
covering the 2023 African Games, a decision that is part of our 2023 Grant.
This initiative underscores our unwavering commitment to increasing the
number of striking images related to the event on Wikimedia Commons, a
unique and valuable addition to this project.
During our preparations for the event, we discovered a significant gap in
the general African Games category on Wikimedia Commons. We were astounded
that despite the long-standing history of the African games, very few
images were available on the platform. This underscores the importance of
our contribution to this project.
We are excited to have covered the 2023 African Games held in Accra, Ghana,
from March 8 to 23, 2024. Our team has already uploaded a variety of
images, including action shots, medal ceremonies, and behind-the-scenes
moments, to Wikimedia Commons. You can view them in this category:
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:2023_African_Games.
We invite you to use these images in your articles, place them in their
correct categories, and rename them accurately. We will keep you updated as
we continue to upload the remaining images. Your use of these images will
help us achieve our goal of increasing the number of striking images
related to the African Games on Wikimedia Commons.
If you have any questions or feedback, do not hesitate to email us at
community(a)wmgh.org or j.okaiallotey(a)wmgh.org. We are more than happy to
help you with anything you need

Bonjour à tous,
En janvier, j'ai publié un rappel nous invitant à examiner le projet
d'Agenda <https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Afrika_Baraza/Africa_Agenda/fr>
inestimable. Nous vous remercions de votre contribution !
Cordialement,
Bobby Shabangu
Hi All,
In January, I posted a reminder inviting us to review the draft Africa
Agenda <https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Afrika_Baraza/Africa_Agenda> and
provide additional input. Our aim was to ensure wider community
consultation and involvement.
We are extremely pleased with the level of participation we received, and
we have now concluded the phase of collecting input for the draft Agenda.
The final document has been updated on Meta as of Sunday 10 March 2024.
What's Next Now?
We hope to communicate the next steps around implementation in the coming
weeks, our goal is to see some of the key recommendations in the Agenda
acted upon soon. Some tentative timelines to watch out for:
-
High-level Stakeholder Engagement/Consultation by 20th April 2024
-
Execution committee constitution and planning from 20th April - June 2024
On behalf of the Afrika Baraza Working Group and WisCom, I would like to
extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who has contributed to shaping the
African Agenda. Whether through Meta, Afrika Baraza, WikiIndaba Conference
23, or email, your involvement is invaluable. Thank you for your
contributions!
Best regards,
Bobby Shabangu
Dear Wikimedians,
We hope this message finds you well and that you are in good spirits. We
are the Let’s Connect working group
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:Knowledge_Sharing/Connect/Team>- a
team of movement contributors/organizers who are liaison representatives of 7/8
regions <https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_regions>. We are
connecting with you to see if you are interested in and/or know about the
peer-to-peer program, Let’s Connect
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:Knowledge_Sharing/Connect>!
The program creates an open and safe learning space for any Wikimedian who is
part of an organized group to share and learn different skills
(organizational/interpersonal / grant related / learning & evaluation ...)
with other peers to add value and contribute collectively to the community.
The purpose is to further develop skills, share knowledge and promote human
connections and mutual support between different groups and communities, in
alignment with the Movement Strategy
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Movement_Strategy>.
Every month, we host 2-3 live 2-hour learning clinics
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:Knowledge_Sharing/Connect#Live_learn…>
with
interesting topics selected by our team and our interested sharers. Our
live learning sessions have up to 4 interpreters translating the clinic for
our participants. Our main languages are Spanish | Arabic | French |
Portuguese. If there is a specific language you would like to see in the
calls, we are happy to see how we can accommodate it.
Let’s Connect is directed at Wikimedians in all regions that are part of
organized groups (this can range from a group of individuals that are not
formally organized user groups, chapters and mission-aligned
organizations). Please see our Meta page for more criteria
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:Knowledge_Sharing/Connect#Who_is_Let…>.
To participate as a sharer, you can register in this initial registration
form
<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdiea87tSYmB2-1XHn_u8RLe7efMJifJBz…>
where
you can register your learning and sharing interests and state if you want
to share your knowledge through Learning Clinics.
Below, you will find our team of 8 who are excited to meet with you if you
are interested. Please email our team at letsconnect(a)wikimedia.org if you
have any questions :)
We look forward to hearing from you.
Best,
The Let’s Connect Working Group
