Hello everyone,
I trust you are all doing well? I’m announcing a rapid grant proposal we
have submitted about organizing bi-weekly online meetups for our team and
community members to expand Wikimedia community engagement in Ghana for a
duration of one (1) year.
We would be very grateful if you can support us by endorsing this grant.
Feel free to ask questions. Feedback and comments are welcome.
Please see the proposal here: Global Open Initiative/Community and Team
Engagement

Hello Wikimedians
In these difficult times many of us miss the chance to connect in person
with other Wikimedians. We miss the events and meetings where we could
learn from and about each other. So we thought to use this time to learn
more about the great people that make up our communities. We would like to
give some of them a bit of a spotlight in our virtual spaces like our blogs
and social media in the absence of physical connection points.
Do you know a community member who has accomplished something new or
inspiring in the last year? Someone who you think the rest of the community
should know about? If so, please take a few minutes and nominate them in
the survey below.
Let us know about their inspiring work, whatever form it took, online or
offline. This can include but is not limited to adding important content
directly to one of our projects, encouraging and supporting others in
adding content, teaching the public about Wikipedia or other Wikimedia
projects, building partnerships, or organizing events and helping your
local community thrive. We are also curious to learn about the different
ways people enrich our movement!
Use the following link to take the survey.

Thank you in advance for helping us highlight more wonderful people and
accomplishments from all over the world!
Your privacy is important to us and is governed by the linked privacy
statement. In this survey, we will request your contact information and
that of the individual you are nominating. Please be sure that the person
you are nominating understands you are providing us with their information.
We will use this information to get in touch with nominees, should they
meet our selection criteria. We will retain this contact information
indefinitely unless you or the person you nominate request its deletion or
update it in a subsequent survey; please see the privacy statement

Dear Wikimedians,
We trust you are keeping safe during this global state of flux.
This email is to affirm that WikiIndaba Steering Committee (WISCom)
continues to be committed to support the Wikimedia User Group in Uganda in
its bid to organise and host WikiIndaba Conference 2021. We were working
closely with the local organising committee and Wikimedia Foundation to
organise the event before the suspension of all in-person Wikimedia events,
and we continue to do so in order to ensure we have a memorable and
impactful conference when everything returns back to normalcy.
Seeing that we now have more time to plan for the programme, scholarships
and other logistics, we ask that you take advantage of the available time
to think deeply about the value that your participation can add to the
conference. We hope that from now till the time of the call for
participation you will think about important questions that will help us
structure the programme to suit your needs, opportunities that the
conference can bring to your community and concerns that need broader
consensus and support from the larger community.
We will announce further developments as they unfold and we look forward to
working with you all in the future to make WikiIndaba a good place for
Africans and the diaspora to connect on topics of interest and action.
Best regards,
WikiIndaba Steering Committee (WISCom)
