Is there any way I can ensure that every page on mediawiki has a
template set on it.... I'm not talking about preloading a new page which
would still allow users to delete the template tag....
Thanks,
AJ
Hi,
I am wondering is it possible to have the TOC of one page(e.g. a
detailed page) included in another page(the main page). I know if use
then the whole page will be included, but I would like to
include the TOC only.
Thanks!
Da
Hi All,
I have upgraded MediaWiki 1.5.7 -> 1.6.7 and now at the top of every
page I find this,
"Jump to: navigation, search"
I find this text listed in http://wikigogy.org/Special:Allmessages as:
MediaWiki:jumpto Jump to:
MediaWiki:jumptonavigation navigation
MediaWiki:jumptosearch search
If I want to remove "Jump to: navigation, search" from the top of ever
page, should I simply delete the text from those three MediaWiki:
pages? Unfortunately when I do, I still get a single comma at the top
of ever page:
","
Is there a better way?
Thanks,
Roger

Dear all,
Trying to use a template to convert a title to search for local opac,
I have make a template:
Template:Title
{}
The call of the template is like this:
This is the title
However, the result is not very well: the space inside the title split
the url part and the display was incorrect.
I try many ways to encode the parameter in urlencode, but none
succeed. Some search point me to a bug report which state urlencode is
already in cvs, I install the newest release from mediawiki, but it
still not seems to work.
Could somebody help me on this?
Thank you.

Hello,
I have just installed MediaWiki within my local network but I'm facing
some problems with Internet Explorer browser. Is this the place to ask
for help?
Thank you,
Ricardo
I use the SpecialPage:Import to import a exported xml file.
It is immediately notice this is not usable: time-out quickly.
Is it possible make a maintenance script instead of a special page?

We would very much like some way of building true "indexes" to our MW
site. In particular, we'd like to be able to do something like this
(only at the "top level" of a page is needed, not enclosed in other
markup):

This would automatically create a "Civil War" entry in the index table
(if one did not already exist), and would create a link back to not just
the page containing the index markup, but also to the position on the
page where the 'Index' statement occurred. (A different syntax might be
preferable, but that's a minor point :-) ).
This is much easier than creating each category page manually, and is (I
think) much more useful for finding particular pieces on info within
large pages. It really fulfills a different function that do categories.
Any suggestions appreciated,
Ken
I just installed MediaWiki 1.6.7 and wanted to change the left navigation
box -- so I followed these procedures/directions
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:%24wgNavigationLinks . I have done this
is earlier version 1.4.x and it works fine but when I've added this code
to my LocalSettings.php file for 1.6.7, my changes do not take.
$wgNavigationLinks = array (
array( 'text'=>'mainpage', 'href'=>'mainpage' ),
array( 'text'=>'portal', 'href'=>'portal-url' ),
array( 'text'=>'currentevents', 'href'=>'currentevents-url' ),
array( 'text'=>'recentchanges', 'href'=>'recentchanges-url' ),
array( 'text'=>'randompage', 'href'=>'randompage-url' ),
array( 'text'=>'help', 'href'=>'helppage' ),
);
Can anyone help me? Thank you! Karen
greeting all
I'm new to the list, and to mediaWiki. Hopefully someone can point me
in the correct direction on this.
I installed 1.6.6 and updated with the 1.6.7 patch. for the most part
everything seems to work but user skins.
Only monobook and Cologne Blue seems to work correctly, the balance
don't.
from that I assume that $IP, $wgStylePat, $wgScriptPath,
$wgStyleDirectory must all be set correctly or even monobook wouldn't
work. So, is there a problem with the contents of the /skins folder -or
- another issue, maybe? any suggestions?
thanks
A. Emory
