Wikipedias
Reply-To: Wikimedia India Community list <wikimediaindia-l(a)lists.wikimedia.org>
Hi everyone,
The Wikimedia Foundation, in partnership with Google and the Centre for Internet and
Society, is launching a pilot project to address local online knowledge content gaps in
India. The project is designed to engage and support active Wikipedia volunteers to
produce valuable new content in local Indian languages. The pilot will run from November
2017 to May 2018 and will collaborate with Wikimedia India chapter, Wikimedia user groups,
and may involve up to ten Indian language Wikimedia communities based on their interest
and participation.
The overall goal of the project is to increase the number, depth, and relevance of
Wikipedia articles in Indian languages. We will evaluate success along these dimensions
and will share results with the Wikimedia community after the pilot’s completion.
You can learn more about the pilot here.
All the best,
Partnerships & Global Reach Team, Wikimedia Foundation
The Center for Internet and Society

Indian language Wikipedia communities and User Groups
