Dear All,
Please find below my brief report of the interaction with KISS faculty and
students.
We (Nichole Saad, Education Program Manager,WMF, Sailesh Patnaik and
Tanveer Hasan, CIS-A2K) conducted a day long meeting with faculty members
and students of KISS, Bhubaneswar.
The discussion began with an analysis of the earlier iteration of the KISS
Program. It was very encouraging to know that the management of KISS and
teachers who had taken part in the earlier WEP program consider that WEP
activity to be a successful pedagogic practice and also were enthusiastic
to revive the idea.
While lack of follow-up was cited to be the primary reason for the WEP
initiative losing steam, we felt that Faculty members are not willing to
internally on-board the program and consider the WEP as an outside
intervention.
It was also decided that to ensure sustainability, a focused training
program for teaching faculty will be organised before any student
activities will be planned. We conducted an activity to assess the
challenges and resources required for the successful implementation of
activities.
As a measure to ensure participation and internal commitment towards any
future activities at KISS we have asked the faculty members to share with
us their academic calendar, lesson plans and approved syllabus. We would
like to work with the Odia community members upon receiving of these
documents in stitching together a plan of activities.
Few of the students who participated in the orientation were successful in
creating accounts.
I shall keep all of you further developments updated regarding this
initiative...

Dear Indic Wikimedians,
As you are all aware, WMF and CIS-A2K have come together in a
partnership with Google to launch a pilot project to address local
online knowledge content gaps in India. In order to engage and support
active Wikipedia volunteers to produce valuable new content in local
Indian languages, we are conducting a needs assessment survey. The aim
of this survey is to understand the needs of the Indic Wikimedia
community and ascertaining their infrastructure requirements that we can
fulfill during the course of this project. Please help us by
participating in the survey below:

We request you to share this survey across your communities, user groups
and network of fellow Indic Wikimedians.
Please do share your valuable suggestions with us and sign up on the
