Hi Maarten,
I hope you enjoy your time in South Africa, and thanks so much for offering
to help out. I can't help out either as I'm not in Durban, but Durban is a
centre for a lot of tourism and the like. Have you considered just signing
up with a professional and reputable tour company to have a look around?
As people who do it for a living, they will probably be able to show you
more interesting things and do a better tour of the region than an
enthusiastic amateur might.

Hi all,
I'm Maarten from Belgium. I am new and I want to present myself to the
mailing list.
At the end of this year, I will move to South Africa for my new job (a green
energy firm <http://electrawinds.be/index.asp?taal=en>), they have a
small team in Durban. During my stay (2 y), I will be happy to help the
South African Wikipedia team.
More about my Wiki work: I have been very active on the Dutch Wikipedia
(I'm now almost 6 years admin), and I helped organising a number of events
in Belgium. I was the main organiser of the Wiki Loves
Monuments<http://www.wikilovesmonuments.eu/>(WLM) Belgium/Luxembourg event, and with
a small team we are struggling to
set up a Belgian chapter. This is very complicated due to the language
problems in Belgium. I would really be thrilled to convince the team to
organise the WLM competition in SA too. It's an ideal starter ('pilot
programme') for a chapter.
However, I have a problem. I will arrive in SA on December 27 (Durban/CT:
not yet determined), and lodging / car / ... will be arranged for. But due
to some unforseen changes, my colleagues won't be able to accompany me
until 6 January. Who can help me and wants to show me the region during
this period (incl. New year's eve)?
Grtz,
Maarten
