Hello Everyone
I hope this email finds you well. This email serves as a quick reminder
about the upcoming AfroCuration South Africa event. A founding member of
@wikimediaigbo and also a Wikipedian in Residence at Moleskine Foundation
working on the WikiAfrica Education project Tochi Precious,
Tochi Precious pioneered the last AfroCuration on 4th and 5th September in
Mozambique where she worked with the WMF Language Team to get the Makhuwa
language Wikipedia into the incubator. They had over 70 participants and
have created over 120 articles since then.
She wants to run his next program in S.A, with Constitution Hill and
Harambee on the 26th and 27th of October.
I am writing this email to find out if there are any volunteers who would
like to partake and volunteer with their time on this project. This project
will train new editors to edit our language Wikipedia, and also mentor them
to become part of our user group and also knowledge contributors in our
language on Wiki.
Please feel free to let me know your user names so I can put them forward
for the event.
Kind regards
Shupai Mchuchu

Hello everyone,
This is just to let you all know that we will be having our 12th Wikipedia
community meetup (digitally of course) on *Saturday, October 30, 2021 from
10:00 to 12:00*. At the usual time but at a different online location. This
time we will be experimenting with using our new Discord server and host
the digital meetup on that. I will still be on Zulip as well just in case
anyone has trouble with joining via Discord.
Please see the event link for more details:

Best regards,
Douglas.

Hello everyone,
Below is an email from the Wikipedia library team. They have been working
on making it easier to edit Wikipedia by giving editors access to resources
that will help with citations. So if you are writing or expanding a
Wikipedia article and need access to academic sources you can check this
tool out to help you find what you are looking for.
Regards,
Douglas.

Subject: The Wikipedia Library: Search feature now available!
To: <douglas.i.scott(a)gmail.com>
Hi,
The Wikipedia Library team is excited to announce that a centralized search
tool is now available to all users eligible to use the library!
Instead of needing to search across individual collections one-by-one,
you’ll now be able to search content from across a wide range of
collections from one search bar. This search tool uses the EBSCO Discovery
Service software and contains a wide array of filtering and advanced search
options.
To check which collections are indexed, we’ve also added icons and filters
to My Library. Search pulls content from almost all of the collections
which are accessible by default for eligible users (the Library Bundle).
This means you can search with the confidence that every result will be
accessible to you. In the future, we plan to enable users to turn off this
limit, so that you could also search across collections which require
individual applications, but we can’t guarantee that you’ll be able to
access all results in this mode, as this depends on your individual
authorizations.
To check out the search tool just head over to
https://wikipedialibrary.wmflabs.org/, log in, and you’ll find the search
bar at the top of your screen.
We hope you find this feature useful, and would love to hear your feedback
at https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Talk:Library_Card_platform/Search.
Finally, as a reminder, we’re planning to start rolling out an on-wiki
notification to editors who are eligible to use the library in the near
future. Users will only receive the notification once. Please check
https://translatewiki.net/w/i.php?title=Special:MessageGroupStats&group=ext…
to see if you can help translate the notification text!
Thanks,
The Wikipedia Library team

Hello everyone,
This is just a reminder that the Universal Code of Conduct Draft
Enforcement Guidelines are still open for review and comment.[1] The
Drafting Committee will start working on revisions and improvement* in less
than two weeks (October 17)*, so it is important that you give them your
ideas and opinions soon!
There is now a short, simple version of the Draft Guidelines here to make
your review easier.[2] If possible, also help translate the short version
into more languages!
We will also hold one last conversation hour on October 15, 2021 03:00 and
14:00 UTC.[3]
On behalf of the Drafting Committee, much thanks to everyone who has given
ideas so far. We hope to hear from more of you - the Guidelines will be
much stronger if more opinions are included.
Kindly,
Sam.
