Dear all,
Over the course of November 2020, the committee of Wikimedia Community
Ireland held 4 meetings dedicated to the development of the group's first 3
year strategic plan. It was formally adopted by the committee on 11 January
2021, and can be found on Commons here
<https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Wikimedia_Community_Ireland_Strateg…>
.
We are very excited by many of the elements of the new plan, and would love
to hear from anyone interested in working with us to achieve the goals set
out.
Hope everyone is enjoying Wikipedia's big day
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_20>!
(Next January Vicipéid, the Irish language Wikipedia, turns 18 so watch
this space!)
Kind Regards,
Rebecca O'Neill on behalf of Wikimedia Community Ireland

waiting to have a photo uploaded for the very first time. You can be a
pioneer and help piece together a full open source photography archive of
Ireland's built heritage, and win prizes!
This year we are awarding a special prize for a photograph of the most
challenging, remote, or obscure structure uploaded to the competition. We
will also be awarding an extra prize for each province of the best photo
uploaded for a site that had no photo before.

Hello,
Today the Wikimedia Foundation would like to introduce a new community
blog. It's called "Diff" (diff.wikimedia.org) and is a blog by – and
for – the Wikimedia volunteer community to connect and share
learnings, stories, and ideas from across our movement. We'd like to
encourage you to learn more about Diff and how it can help you in
sharing and learning from your fellow Wikimedians.
Everyone is invited to contribute!
https://diff.wikimedia.org/2020/07/14/welcome-to-diff-a-community-blog-for-…
The name “Diff” is in reference to the wiki interface that displays
the difference between one version and another of a Wikipedia page. It
also reflects the “difference” our communities and movement make in
the world every day.
For some background, Diff builds on lessons and experiences from the
Wikimedia Blog, the Wikimedia Foundation News, and Wikimedia Space;
previous posts from these channels are archived on Diff. The channel
is primarily intended for community-authored posts, in which
volunteers can share their stories, learnings, and ideas with each
other.
Diff offers a simple and accessible editorial process, moderated by
Foundation communications staff and open to volunteers, to encourage
participation from all — especially emerging and under-represented
communities. Additionally, content on Diff can be written and
translated into languages to reach a wide audience. Diff also has a
code of conduct and comments can be flagged and moderated.
Still curious to learn more?

*Dear all/A chairdeWe are very excited to announce that registration
<https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/celtic-knot-wikimedia-language-conference-20…>
and the schedule
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Celtic_Knot_Conference_2020> are now live
for the Celtic Knot Conference 2020, taking place remotely on 9-10 July
with satellite events throughout the week of 6-12 July.The Celtic Knot
Wikimedia Language Conference aims to bring people together to share their
experiences of working on sharing information in minority languages. We aim
to help people learn how to direct the flow of information across language
barriers and support their communities. As in previous years we will have a
strong focus on Wikidata and its potential to support languages. This year,
it’s hosted by Wikimedia Community Ireland in collaboration with Wikimedia
UK. The conference will be a mixture of live streamed and pre-recorded
content also available to allow for participation and engagement across
time zones. We will have space for social activities, so that we can
connect and hopefully learn a little about Irish culture. There is also the
chance for anyone to host a satellite event
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Celtic_Knot_Conference_2020/Satellite_events>
during the week of the conference to showcase projects, campaigns or other
work being done that is relevant to the conference themes.We look forward
to seeing you all in July!From the organization team,Wikimedia UK (Daria
