Hi all,
sorry about lack of contact over last while but I started a new job
and was quite busy. The new job is, however, as a Project Coordinator
for Dublin City of Science 2012. Dublin will host the Euroscience Open
Forum (ESOF) in July 2012 and is currently seeking calls for proposals
for talks to be held at the 5-day conference.
http://www.dublinscience2012.ie/calls
Deadline for proposals is June 30th 2011.
We will also be hosting a lot of outreach events over the next year
and I definitely think Wikimedia should get involved in some way -
either by presenting a talk or hosting in some outreach events. Do we
have anyone confident enough to speak about Wikimedia's activities and
goals on board? Maybe a how-to-edit master-class? Ideas are welcome.
Anyone from England (and worldwide) is welcome too.
I hope Wikimedia can collaborate in some way,
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Conor.
p.s. my name is Conor Dowdall ... Conor Wao is just an online profile!
Hi again,
I know you probably haven't heard much from me recently. I've been away from Wikipedia for a while due to commitments, but still have a keen interest.
I don't know if you've ever come across the website MerrionSteet.ie . It is the "Irish Government News Service". It has a collection of all of the press releases from government departments, as well as images.
Previously, the images were under a Creative Commons licence, but recently changed them to full Copyright. The old licence was not acceptable for Wikipedia.
Considering that other governments, such as the US and Polish governments, release their images for free, I was wondering if anybody else felt it was appropriate to lobby the website to release their images under a CC licence (suitable for Wiki) or into the public domain.
Regards,Colm King(cargoking)

Hi all,
Just popping my head up to say hello :) As it happens, I'm the only list admin on the Wikimedia IE mailing list. My cohort, Cary Bass, left admin when he retired from the WMF to return to college. Anyways, the current situation really isn't optimal; if I get run over by a bus or whatev, we're stuck without anyone managing the list, having the password, etc.
So, to that end, would anyone like to volunteer to co-admin the list? It's pretty simple and anyone using Mailman already would find it a breeze. As I'm in the US on the West Coast (ex-Dub myself), someone in Europe would be particularly handy to ensure good coverage round the clock.
Ok - over to you :)
