Hi everyone! Three updates for you from the Program Evaluation & Design
team:
1. *We'd love your feedback *on the type of data we're requesting from
program leaders, like yourselves, to share with us about specific programs
in an upcoming survey (yay, more surveys!). This is an important one! We'd
love your feedback and the feedback from community members around the
world. So please share and provide feedback by Thursday:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Program_Evaluation_and_Design/Resources/Pil…
This survey will go out at the end of the week, so for many of you,
you'll get an email requesting your voluntary (pretty please!)
participation.
2. *A new edit-a-thon evaluation is out* which is the first of what we
hope will be many made by the movement. Find inspiration in what has
basically become a template for edit-a-thon evaluations. And if you need
help doing your own, ask me! (I did it!)
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Programs:Evaluations/WWHM
3. *Next Google Hangout scheduled for October 2, Wednesday, 16:30-17:30.
*This hangout will be facilitated by Dr. Jaime Anstee, Program
Evaluation Specialist. Jaime will update attendees about our latest survey,
evaluations, and more. Attendees will be encouraged to share evaluation
updates, stories, and ask questions, too. Sign up to attend here and spread
the word:
https://plus.google.com/u/2/events/cj7innlh3bffaod205vkglec738?authkey=COG2…
And as always, if you have an evaluation story to share, we'd love to share
it on the WMF blog. Just email me!
Happy Evaluating!

Hi everyone,
Just a few quick updates this Monday about Program Evaluation & Design!
- *New blog released: "Drafting a strategy plan with the community"* is
a new blog written by User:Barcelona from Amical. Read how Amical is
working with the community to develop their strategic plan through logic
model use.

[interested in sharing your evaluation story? Contact me!]
- *Evaluation capacity survey released this past week* and has been sent
to over 100 program leaders throughout the Wikimedia community. This
survey, which ends next Monday, will help the PE&D team learn more about
what type of support you need to proceed with evaluation. We can't wait to
share the results and see where the movement is at regarding evaluation.
- *Facebook group for Program Evaluation launched* *last week*. Over 60
community members are on the group. We know not all of you are on Facebook,
but, please join us if you are.
https://www.facebook.com/groups/programevaluation
- *Share your WikiMetrics experience with us* by posting on the meta
page. And join the discussion here:
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Program_Evaluation_and_Design/Resources/User…
- *Have a question about Program Evaluation? As on our meta forum.* Stop
by and see what others are talking about, and ask your own questions here:

Hi everyone,
*It was great meeting and seeing so many of you in Hong Kong.* We hope you
made it home safely and had a great and inspiring time at Wikimania, we
know we did. We can't wait to have more concrete events and activities at
Wikimania 2014, and of course, we will keep you posted on opportunities.
I wanted to send a brief reminder about *Wikimetrics*. We would love your
feedback about it. You can find the training module here:
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Meta:Training/Wiki_Metrics
Jaime worked hard to create this great module, and it will show you the
easy basics on how to get started. Then you can be free to play and engage
with it.
Please post your feedback on the talk page here:
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Program_Evaluation_and_Design/Resources/Wiki…
And, if you find a bug, you can post it on Bugzilla[1] and if you don't
want to worry about Bugzilla, just email me. All feedback will be shared
with WMF analytics.
*This is a SOFT LAUNCH*. That means there will be bugs, issues, and it's
not perfect. But, we can't wait for you to play with it. Please experiment
and make sure,* if you do intend on using Wikimetrics to evaluate an
upcoming event you have, you use the permission forms for your event
participants.*[2]
*Also, please share Google Hangout ideas with us*. We're going to have our
next Google Hangout at the beginning of September, and IRC meeting around
the same time (details soon) so please share ideas here:
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Program_Evaluation_and_Design/Resources/Sugg…
I'm looking to have program leaders like yourselves share successes,
challenges and stories about PE&D for the WMF blog. Please contact me - I'd
love to hear from you.

*Hello! Bonjour! Hallo! مرحبا! Hola! Dobrý den! Hei! नमस्कार! 안녕하세요! Olá!
Здравствуйте!*
Welcome to the Program Evaluation & Design (PE&D) announcement list! This
announcement list will provide weekly news about program evaluation
processes, resources, media, and events around the world.
The past two weeks have been busy weeks for us on the PE&D team, hence the
size of this announcement!
- It has been over two weeks since our first *Program Evaluation &
Design Workshop* in Budapest. Read more about the event on our
blog<http://blog.wikimedia.org/2013/07/11/finding-out-what-works-first-workshop-…>
.
- *PE&D has a home on meta-wiki*.
Here<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Programs>you will find:
- *News and updates* about PE&D, including future online and
in-person events.
- The *Share Space*, which was developed originally for the Budapest
workshop and will continue to serve as the main space for Wikimedia
community members to share examples of their programs, find logic model
examples, and ask questions in our peer-to-peer supported forum.
- A *resources* page that features a glossary (please help translate
it!), presentations by PE&D staff and community members that you
can reuse
and remix, all the details about logic models, and a resource
list that you
can add to.
- We also have an *FAQ* where people can find answers to general
questions about why we're doing PE&D, who the team is, and more.
Please remember that the PE&D portal is a work in progress. This summer we
will launch The Workshop, in partnership with the Learning & Evaluation
team. It will be the "one stop shop" for all things evaluation!
A few news updates...
- *UserMetrics API
*
- Has been renamed *Wikimetrics*
- And if all goes well it will be ready for the community to use in
early August.
- We have been working closely with legal about what information can
be collected when gathering participant information at events.
We are close
to having some great (seriously!) news for you about that.
- *Monthly Google Hangout for PE&D*
- *Please take this survey
<http://www.doodle.com/rivr3t4t8wen7cvw>*by Wednesday, July 17
* *with what days work for you.
- Let us know what day of the week works best for a Google Hangout so
we can share work we are doing around the world & ask questions
about PE&D.
These would be held on the third week of every month.
- *Monthly Office Hours on IRC*
- *Please take this survey
<http://www.doodle.com/nvwv3ecmxs3stmsm>*by Wednesday July 17 with
what day/time works best for you.
- Let us know what day of the week and what times possibly work best
for you for the PE&D team to hold a monthly IRC Office Hours. We know we
can't reach everyone around the world at one reasonable time, so we hope
having both an IRC and Hangout option will allow someone, someplace, to
meet up from afar.
Any questions or if you have a story to share about program evaluation,
please email me.
Enjoy your weekend and happy summer,
Sarah
