The Jnana Jyothi Auditorium in Bangalore University, (Near Avenue Road) has
a seating of 1200, I guess it would be available easily for such events.
But one needs to approach the registrar, for that. Sometimes even they wave
of the rent.

Can you try the availability of this place?
I did. It is available. For the full day on the 15th they will charge
INR 80K with no charges for the preparatory setup that morning. It's a
great space but a little out of our budget, me thinks.
I called Chowdiah just to check charges - 65K for the full day on
weekdays, 85K for weekends, so no go it seems (at this price, Mother
Tekla would be a better bet). One thing about the TERI space that needs
to be brought to their attention is that the toilets smell a little -
affecting the main auditorium. The other thing about TERI is that the
whole upstairs space comes included in the package, and I think it could
seat another 100 people quite comfortably (so that's something to
consider).
Thank you.
Best,
Gautam

Mother Tekla is really well located and it would
seem like an event that
is centrally located will be easier for press people to reach. In terms
of costs, is there any chance that UTC (
http://www.utcbangalore.in/) has
space for us? They are equally well located and apparently charge
reasonable rates for the auditorium. I'm not sure how to check but
Bangalore NGOs like ALF have had events there and might know.
In terms of the other options. I'm not sure it makes sense to hold the
event at a commercial firm (not an event like this at any rate). And
from previous experience, I've found that the press doesn't easily make
it to events held outside central Bangalore.
Agree with Achal on this.
Cenral college is also something we could check with - centrally located
and
quite good auditorium.
