Hi all,

you're interested in making a program submission or applying for a
scholarship, it's your last chance -- please submit/apply by the end of
August 31st!
If you are located in North America and would like to apply for a
scholarship, please visit https://scholarships.wcna.wiki
If you would like to submit a lecture, panel, roundtable, workshop,
lightning talk, or other meetup, please visit https://submissions.wcna.wiki
Registration is also open at:
https://register.wcna.wiki/
If you've already applied for a scholarship, you should be hearing about a
decision in the coming week or two. Our program committee is also actively
working on reviewing the program submissions that have been made so far.
Thank you!

Hi folks,
I am running a small edit-a-thon this Friday, from 1-3pm at MIT. We'll be
in room 14N-132. The focus will be climate change related articles, which
of course is a major focus of research at MIT.
We have a page here with all the details:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Meetup/Boston/Climate_change_MIT_Ja…
and you can register here:
https://libcal.mit.edu/calendar/events/wikipedia_iap2023
Sorry about the late notice; please feel free to edit virtually too and
note your edits on that page! I will be training people how to edit so
people totally new to Wikipedia are welcome. Let me know if you have any
questions.
best,
Phoebe

Dear Bostonians,
I'm Ziski from the Foundation's Global Advocacy team. I've had the pleasure of meeting some of the wonderful members of this user group and am a big fan of the work you're doing to diversify the knowledge represented across Wiki projects. I wanted to share that our team's monthly conversation hour will focus on privacy, which is also integral to a vibrant movement. You're warmly invited!
The calls are on Sept. 24 & 29th and include speakers like Pepe Flores (WM Mexico). All details including how to add to the agenda can be found on on Meta [1]. Please feel free to share with your network.
Even if you can't make this one, we hope to see you at future calls.
Warmly,
Ziski
