Hello all,
I put up this wiki using Media wiki a while back. No one is
really jumping in and using it. My site has a number of fans on
facebook, and followers of the group. The wiki is part of a site, Word
Salad Online. I want it to be about words, poetry, language,
communication, writing. (also, I'll add topics like semantics, the
semantic web and such concepts as computer/machine learning, etc. )
The thing is that I need to make the site clear as to how to add
an article, or edit an existing article. I also need a way to structure
the site. Is there any kind of documentation that gives tips on how to
think about growing a wiki? It's a different approach than other
website development. We don't have a menu of everything on the site.
We have a main page and that has to be setup to grow off of there. Can
anyone give me any guidance. The site is in my sig below. Are there
videos that might be inspiring... that's what I need, inspiration on how
to make this work... setup to grow from the home page in every possible
direction - because you don't just create an orphan page, do you? And
it needs to be clear for newbies how to use the site and add content...
I need to have some kind of material that is not going to seem like a
major undertaking to get started... If I could make people curious
enough to want to create content that would help.
thanks,
Bruce
