Hi!
I'm triying to create a Internal Link which result will be a search. Until
now, I've written this: [[Special:Search *|* the_word_I_search]]
I want that this link do not go to Special:Search else the result of the
search. Thanks!!
Hi,
I got this error even if I followed the instruction on
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Upload
First of all, that "public" means that wikimedia is expecting to use a
directory called "public"? I have installed mediawiki from tgz file,
without change the default values. How is it possible? If it is related
to images directory, that error messagge should be fixed.
-- I set"755" for folder images:
dcs:~/dcs.di.unipmn.it/mex/mediawiki $ ll | grep ima
drwxr-xr-x 2 mex mex 4096 2010-01-28 11:20 images
-- I have enabled upload:
$wgEnableUploads = true;
-- I have checked Apache aliases
-- I have checked file_uploads on php.ini
but still the same error message appear.
Any suggestion?
Thanks,
Massimo
Hi, after 4 years, I just discovered that a user will not be able to see my
references with <references /> if he is not logged in! However, Wikipedia
can display the references without the need for a user to log in. How can I
accomplish it?

When creating a new thread, do not reply to an existing message and change the

Messages posted to the list have the "Reply-To" header set to the mailing list,

posting a reply which is only interesting to the original poster, and not the

avoids cluttering the list with irrelevant traffic.

Hi,
I just downloaded and installe the last MediaWiki. The installation and
configuration went well, but now I cannot see anything in
config/LocalSettigs.php.
I've tried to use "chmod 777 config/LocalSettigs.php" to exclude
permission problem, with lo luck.
Maybe the problem is related to apache that is the owner of the file:
dcs:~/dcs.di.unipmn.it/mex/mediawiki/config $ ll
total 92
-rw-rw-rw- 1 apache apache 4158 2010-01-27 12:03 LocalSettings.php
-rw-r--r-- 1 mex mex 76239 2009-05-08 07:51 index.php
-rw-r--r-- 1 mex mex 68 2007-07-11 09:55 index.php5
If is this the problema, what can I do?
Thansk,
Massimo
Hi,
What is the best approach to support styling MW pages based on the
category (categories) the page belongs to?
I was hoping the category name could be inserted in the class
attribute just like the namespace and pagename appear there, but I did
not find any configuration setting indicating that this is possible at
the moment.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

I have imported a daily dump of 121,000 pages from a wiki running 1.13.2. The importDump took 80 hours and when I ran rebuildAll, the resulting job queue was about 250,000 jobs. It took 10.5 hours to process them. After doing this, I downloaded a subsequent daily dump (from 6 days subsequent to the original daily dump) and imported it. That took about 30 minutes.
Now I want to update the internal data structures so my personal copy of the wiki is complete. I decided not to use rebuildAll again, since the daily dump has no images. Also, the wiki is postgres based, so rebuildtextindex doesn't work (it is only for MySQL). So, I thought I would use refreshLinks. However, that is running almost as slowly as the original importDump. After processing 2200 pages and interpolating forward, I estimate it will take about 40 hours to complete.
I have several questions:
+ Are there any settings that might make both importDump and refreshLinks do their work more quickly?
+ Is it necessary to run refreshLinks after an incremental importDump?
+ Are there other maintenance scripts I should run?
Thanks,
Dan Nessett
Hi,
I've create a table at http://www.expath.org/wiki/Engines, and
I would like to use Wikipedia-like cell features, like for
instance the green and red cells for yes and no in:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_issue_tracking_systems
I've tried to use the same syntax (using {{yes}}) but that does
not work. The string "Template: Yes" is displayed in red
instead.
I guess I must install some templates? I looked for into both
Mediawiki and Wikipedia sites, but I did not find anything. Any
clue?
Thanks in advance, regards,

I allways see the Source on the side when i use an Infobox.

Hey all,
Google Summer of Code 2010 [0] has been announced [1] by Google's open source team.
I'm assuming Wikimedia Foundation will again apply as mentoring organization this year. Can anybody confirm this? Also, who is (or will be) coordinating GSoC efforts? I have several suggestions to improve how things are done compared to last year, and am willing to help :)
I'd also like to point out that WE NEED MENTORS. Last year the amount of students that could be accepted, and therefore projects that could be done, was limited by the amount of available mentors, and currently only Yaron Koren has signed up. I'm fairly certain there are a lot of awesome people in the community who would want to mentor a student though. If you are one of them, please add your name to the list of the GSoC 2010 page [2]. Also, please add any idea's you have for projects to this page.
