Hi, it seems like my Mediawiki.Monobook.css file is not working. I have:
body.page-Main_Page h1.firstHeading { display: none; }
in Monobook.css but the page title still appear in my homepage at
Aseanpedia<http://www.aseanpedia.com/Aseanpedia,_the_free_online_unofficial_ASEAN_Ency…>.
It used to be working fine until I transferred my Mediawiki files into a
folder instead of in publichtml, thinking it is neater. However, it did not
work, so I reverted it to its original position. All other functions seem to
work just fine, except this page.

Is it possible to upload a file, then open that file for editing and save
back to the location where it originally was uploaded too.?
Thanks
rod.

What is the best practice for creating a new type of email notification that uses the business logic in the EmailNotification class? (That is, obeying user preferences, watchlist settings, minor edits, etc.)
For example, suppose we want to generate an email notification whenever an article is added to a category, for all users watching the category page. In MediaWiki 1.13, it was possible to subclass EmailNotification and substitute a custom subject line and body for the email, and then call notifyOnPageChange(), but MediaWiki 1.14 has changed the subject & body members from public to private, making this impossible. The class contains no hooks either.
One approach, taken by the existing Extension:CategoryWatcher, is to implement all your own business logic, duplicating EmailNotification's current capabilities. We don't like this solution, since it won't leverage any future changes in EmailNotification (or will just break in the future).
If there's no good solution, I'll file an enhancement request. It should be easy to leverage MediaWiki's notification system.
Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

Hi,
I enabled the math support and my latex can render such code to proper picture:
x+y
x \implies y
but when I put them in my wiki:
<math>x+y</math><br /><br />
<math>x \implies y</math>
only the x+y is rendered.
the source code of the page includes such lines that I think may cause
the problem:
<img class="tex" alt="x \implies y"
src="/var/www/html/wiki/images/math//c/a/c/cacfa4f67dd97bc8e402f36f13b0c265.png"
/>
</p>
Could anyone help me?
Thank you

Hello all,
I am looking for a way to produce a list with dpl that does NOT begin with
an article name, but instead begins with one of the template parameters I
define. In my case, I am trying to produce an automatic bibliographic list
with dpl. The article titles are the book titles and the author information,
date, etc. are parameters in a template in each article. By calling for all
articles using the template can easily create a list with all the
information, only I can't make it in the order or style I want. Does anyone
have any ideas about this?
Thanks very much for any advice anyone can give.
Cheers,
Marcus
I am looking to set-up a more "traditional" encyclopedia. While I certainly
would welcome submissions, I would rather have some "submit" a potential
edit rather than the traditional wiki format of a "free for all" edit. Is
there a way to "lock down" mediawiki so that only the administrator (me) can
change content? Can submissions be moderated so that they have to be
approved by the administrator/moderator prior to posting?
Sorry if this has been discussed before, but I am trying to figure out which
way to go...
Best,

I wanted to experiment with a "commons" site, so I created two sites, uploaded
one file to each, and got the first to pull media from the other if it didn't
exist locally. Yay!
I also set up my wikishare to use MW Commons. This works nicely, insofar as
it loads images from MWC. But the description of this feature said the files
were supposed to be fetched once then cached locally to save on bandwidth.
So...shouldn't the MWC image now be available to wiki1, as well? Perhaps this
"chaining" wouldn't work if it was _first_ requested from wiki1 (I can
understand the request methods might be different so it wouldn't work quite
the same), but at least after requested from (my local) wikishare since it
should be cached there? Where is it cached?
Thanks,
Tim
The meet-up[1] is drawing close now: between April 3. and 5. we meet at the
c-base[2] in Berlin to discuss MediaWiki development, extensions, toolserver
projects, wiki research, etc. Registration[3] is open until March 20 (required
even if you already pre-registered).
The schedule[4] is slowly becomming clear now: On Friday, we'll start at noon
with a who-is-who-and-does-what session and in the evening there will be an
opportunity to get to know Berlin a bit. On Saturday we have all day for
presentations and discussions, and in the evening we will have a party together
with all the folks from the chapter and board meetings. On Sunday there will be
a wrap-up session and a big lunch for everyone.
We have also organized affordable accommodation: we have reserved rooms in the
Apartmenthaus am Potsdamer Platz[5]. Staying there is a recommended way of
getting to know your fellow Wikimedians!
I'm happy that so many of you have shown interest, and I'm sure we'll have a
great time in Berlin!
Regards,
Daniel
