Hi,
I add the wikiwyg extension, but when i tried to edit I a wiki page I just
got a blank page.
The instruction I followd from
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Wikiwyg are:
New installation instructions for version 0.20
1. Download the extension from the MediaWiki SVN at
http://svn.wikimedia.org/svnroot/mediawiki/trunk/extensions/wikiwyg.
2. Copy all files into the /extensions folder on your wiki.
3. NOTE: As of 2007/Aug/21, Wikiwyg requires this patch for syntax
errors
<http://primates.ximian.com/~federico/misc/wikiwyg-syntax-errors-2007-08-21.
diff> ; cd to /extensions/wikiwyg and do:
patch -p1 -i wikiwyg-syntax-errors-2007-08-21.diff
4. Apply the patches from
/extensions/wikiwyg/share/MediaWiki/mediawiki-1.10.1bleed.patch by executing
the following command:
patch -p0 -i extensions/wikiwyg/share/MediaWiki/mediawiki-1.10.1bleed.patch
Note: you have to cd to the MediaWiki root directory first (the one with
LocalSettings.php <http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:LocalSettings.php>
in it)
5. Insert into LocalSettings.php
<http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:LocalSettings.php> the following
lines:
$wgWikiwygEnabled = true;
$wgWysiwygEnabled = true;
$wgInPageEnabled = true;
$wgYuiPath = "http://yui.yahooapis.com/2.3.0/build" ;
require_once
("$IP/extensions/wikiwyg/share/MediaWiki/extensions/MediaWikiWyg.php");
require_once
("$IP/extensions/wikiwyg/share/MediaWiki/extensions/WikiwygEditing/WikiwygEd
iting.php");
require_once
("$IP/extensions/wikiwyg/share/MediaWiki/extensions/CreatePage/SpecialCreate
Page.php");
require_once
("$IP/extensions/wikiwyg/share/MediaWiki/extensions/CreatePage/CreatePageCor
e.php");
Please advice,
Thank you,
Patty
In editing LocalSettings.php I see two types of process. one is for
example; require_once( "$IP/extensions/ImageMap/ImageMap.php" );
the other is : include_once( "$IP/extensions/ImageMap/ImageMap.php" );
Can someone tell me what is the difference?
Thanks!
Frosty
Hi,
When trying to export a page on my wiki using special:export
I am getting the following message:
"The XML page cannot be displayed
Cannot view XML input using style sheet. Please correct the error and
then click the Refresh button, or try again later.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
An invalid character was found in text content"
I don't know where the problem is. I thought it could be some char on my
page that is causing it, but I tried to export a bunch of other pages as
well.
Please help

Hi All,
I've poked through the archives, but I wasn't able to find an answer on
this, but it is possible I missed it. I've been running an installation
of MediaWiki with the LDAP extension for awhile for a specific
department on campus, but now I have another MediaWiki installation that
needs LDAP for multiple departments.
In the first installation, I could only get LDAP to work if I defined
the full tree in the wgLDAPSearchStrings array. For example,
$wgLDAPSearchStrings = array(
"LehighLDAP"=>"cn=USER-NAME,ou=specificdept,ou=f-s,dc=my,dc=university,dc=edu"
);
What I can do in other applications is get rid of the ou elements and
just leave the dc elements and it will search down. But when I do this
here, it doesn't work, but returns a bad password error.
Is there a way to generalize this search string or do I need to include
all of the specific search string trees? And if the latter, what is the
syntax to include multiple search strings?
Thanks,
Tim

I think you must escape the #dpl code section...

I have a template, part of which contains this code:
{{#dpl:
|category = Service
|category = CU {{{cu_name}}}
|titlematch = Infobox SC %
|include = {Infobox Service Info}:sc_id:sla_id:comment
|table=class = sortable border=2 cellpadding=2,-,service id,sla id,comment
}}
It works fine, except when there is no page matching the categories
and titlematch, when it throws the warning "%DPL-1.6.4-WARNING: No
results!".
So I tried to embed it in an ifexist construct like this:
{{#ifexist:
{{#dpl:
|category = Service
|category = CU {{{cu_name}}}
|titlematch = Infobox SC %
}}
| {{#dpl:
|category = Service
|category = CU {{{cu_name}}}
|titlematch = Infobox SC %
|include = {Infobox Service Info}:sc_id:sla_id:comment
|table=class = sortable border=2 cellpadding=2,-,service id,sla id,comment
}}
}}
Unfortunately, this doesn't work. Even when the matching page exists,
the table is not displayed. Is this a limitation of dpl, or am I
overlooking something obvious?
Kind regards,
Herta

I was thinking about how many steps it takes to add an image to an
article, and it is a little ridiculous.
So I did something about it. This is a little different than the
miniupload that wikia uses (very nice). This allows you to upload an
image, and add it into the page, or to find an image and add it, all
in one step-process.
Give it a try
http://risdpedia.net/index.php?title=Sandbox&action=edit
It is the orange "+ image" button. In the popup, click search.
Keywords that have a lot under them are : glue , foam , wood .
It is case insensitive, and found items does not need to start with
the searched text, just contain it.
Try it and let me know what you think.
This is aimed at wiki's whos users are not the most tech savy. It have
an advanced button where you can choose size, as well as left/ right,
and add a comment. The default is a 200px thumb on the right, so the
user does not need to know anything syntax.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this work.

PS... The image upload is not turned on right now.
Hi all,
I need to enable Mathematica
(http://www.wolfram.com/products/mathematica/index.html) notebook filetype
(extension nb) on my MediaWiki (ver 1.7.1). I have tried to add the filetype
to the LocalSettings:
$wgFileExtensions = array( 'png', 'gif', 'jpg', 'jpeg', 'svg', 'nb' ) but it
doesn't work.
When I try to upload some nb file, it only says, that the file is maybe
corrupted.
The other thing which I would also appreciate is small Mathematica icon (I
have the icon image) near the link to nb files simillar for example to the
icons which displays near pdf links on Wikipedia. Does anybody know, how to
manage it and if it is possible in MW version 1.7.1?
Thanks in advance for any help
Jakub
Hello, I have been running a mediawiki site for quite some time now.
Recently, there has been a problem where is a new image is loaded onto a
page or a file uploaded, the page that this is done to goes blank. This
includes if an image or file previously uploaded is added to a new page.
Also, the history pages are now blank. I can edit the page by moving
stuff around and changing the text content, but that is all. Any ideas
to fix this would be appreciated.
Thanks, Mike
