I was wondering if there is an easy way to hyperlink images to a specific
page? I would like to display an image on a page but have it link to a
specified page, not the image description page. Any ideas?
Thanks.

Morning all,
I'm seeking a little advice on the use of Templates.
I'm setting up an internal wiki at my company , the purpose of which
is to allow various people to document our routines and program workflows.
I'd like to standardise the layout of this documentation with regards
to the basic information that needs entering. I thought I could
provide a layout framework via a template, give people the basic
information on how to include the template and they could then fill in
the included template.
Is there any way of setting up a template so that once included it's
contents are editable on the calling page? Substitution achieves this,
but then doesn't actually reflect that the page is using the template
and so doesn't pick up any further changes to that template.
I could use parameters in the template, but there could be a lot of
information and this might be a bit cumbersome.
Do I have any other options for achieving this?
Please let me know if what I'm asking for isn't clear.

>@Thomas Thank you for reply...but my aim is to make a hierarchy of

You can have users in multiple groups. Would it solve your problem to have
the "manager" group have only the rights that everyone in that group should
have, and then put each member in a different group according to their
department? For example, the "manager" group could have "read" permissions
everywhere, and the "Department 1" group would have specific "edit" rights
that the "Department 2" group did not. Users can exist in both the
"manager" group and "Department 1" group at the same time, and have the
rights assigned to them by both.
Something to be aware of is that if a right is explicity denied to one group
a user is a part of but enabled for another of that user's groups, the user
has that right (true overrules false).

I was using Confluence (commercial wiki) yesterday and was impressed by
their "upload file" feature. It combines the upload and the creation of
the image tag into a single operation. Has anyone done anything like
this for MediaWiki? I didn't see anything in the Extensions category on
mediawiki.org.
Ideally, I'd like to see a single widget that snaps a screenshot,
uploads the image to MediaWiki, and generates the [[Image:...]] tag, all
in a single operation. That would be super-useful.

Id like to do is display custom information based on information in
the users cookie.
On my site, I would like localized information. So when a student goes
to the page, they set the school they are at, then certain information
on pages would be customized to them.
EG
say you have an article on smoothies. And you want an area for
smoothie areas around them. So if they are at UCLA it lists the ones
for that area. and if ASU ones for that area would be shown, but the
bulk of the page would be the same for both users.
But I found that pages will not update unless you edit and save the
page, so there is no way to have it show/hide. Even if you make a tag
that just outputs a random number, it will give the same number every
time until you edit and save the page.
Is there any way around this, or doing what I posted above?
-Thanks

Hello!
I have a undefind problem with ImageMagic. I installed MediaWiki on my
server, done all prepares and settings. I'm sure I my parametre are
right, but after upload a file or image, the page redirect to the main
page. And when I show a list of files and images a click on some of
them, it redirets to the main page again. So i think I have some problem
with automatic creating of thumb sites of files. I need it because of
deleting files.
Please, help.
Thanks
