Hmmm, you've got it wrong.  One or two people made some ludicrous
complaints.  They made a RfC ("re-opening it up to discussion" ) and
the result is that there is no significant challenge here to the
normal process of refactoring.

Please read the history of this affair.  You may find that it is
considerably different from your preconceived ideas.
