Aha! That put me on the right track.
I saw a "common/commonPrint.css", within which I found "noprint"
<div class=noprint>
This will display in a regular view, but not in the printable view.
</div>
Yay! =)
Along the same lines.. when editing MediaWiki:Monobook.css .. I notice
that I cannot do something like:
h1, h2 {
border-bottom: none;
border-top: 1px solid #aaa;
}
.. to customize my header displays. Is this because this file is not
appropriate for customizing things already found in the physical
monobook.css file?

look in the header section of the html for the site
you will notice it including many stylesheets
one will say media="print" thats the one used only for printing
while those that say media="screen" are for your monitor only
