Hi,
With this bug https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T328872
I can't upload any big PDF files any more.
This needs an urgent fix.
BTW uploading to Wikisource produces the same error.
What I do to get this fixed?
Thanks,
Yann

Hi, folks!
Today, on the anniversary of the birth of the most distinguished Ukrainian
writer, Taras Shevchenko <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taras_Shevchenko>,
I want to remind everyone, that Ukraine’s Cultural Diplomacy Month 2023
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Ukraine%27s_Cultural_Diplomacy_Month_2023>
is underway right now!
Wikimedia Ukraine, along with the Ukrainian institute and Ministry of
Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, brings out already third installment of this
writing contest which focuses on Ukrainian culture and people. The campaign
is underway until 31st March spanning across all Wikipedias under the usual
motto “Ukraine Everywhere”!
We follow last year’s very successful campaign during which we have seen
contributions in 60 different languages from Hausa to Hebrew, from Persian
to Portuguese, from Meitei to Malay, and from Georgian to German.
Contributors all over the world have written 3813 articles and improved
262, making valuable commitments to the popularization of our culture in
moments when it has reached its most dangerous times.
We invite everyone to join and share information about “Ukraine’s Cultural
Diplomacy Month”! All information about the project, the list of proposed
articles, and the terms of participation are available at
ucdm.wikimedia.org.ua.

Wiki in Africa
Dear friends,
On behalf of WISCom
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wiki_Indaba_Steering_Committee> I'm
pleased to announce that the next WikiIndaba conference will take place in
Agadir, Morocco on 3rd and 4th of November 2023. Following this, the
following year's conference will take place in Cape Town, South Africa on 1st
and 2nd of November 2024.
Going forward, we have adopted a system of selecting two host countries
which will cover two successive years of the conference. This will ease the
burden and save time of having to deliberate in a long selection process
after each conference. It will also give time for the next host to prepare
themselves for the conference.
To ensure a fair regional rotation, we were deliberate with our selection
process. We invited only affiliates from Francophone speaking countries to
express interest in hosting the conference. This was followed by a
selection criterion which looked at several factors including the capacity
to host the conference, if there were elections this year in the bidding
country, capacity of the affiliate as well as motivations why the bidder
wanted to host the conference.
The WikiIndaba conference brings together Wikimedians and open source
enthusiasts from across the African continent and diaspora to share
experiences and learn from each other. We look forward to seeing you at the
next WikiIndaba conference.
Please be on the lookout for a survey from this year’s host in the next
coming weeks, as they finalise their preparations for the conference.
Best regards,
Bobby Shabangu

BIng with ChatGPT is now released by Micrsoft.
And from what I understand they use Wikipedia content considerably. If
you ask Who is A B and A B is not widely known, the result is more or
less identical to the content from the Wikipedia article (but worse, as
it "makes up" facts that is incorrect).
In a way I am glad to see Wikipedia is fully relevant even in this
emerging AI-driven search world. But Google search has ben careful to
always have a link to Wikipedia besides their made up summary of facts,
which here it is missing (yet?). And for licences, they are all ignored.
So if this is the future the number of accesses from users to Wikipedia
will collapse, and also their willingness to donate... (but our content
still a cornerstone for knowledge)
Anders
(I got a lot of fact from an article in Swedish main newspaper by their
tech editor. He started asking fact of himself, and when he received
facts from his Wp article plus being credited to a book he had noting to
do with, he started to try to tell/learn ChatGPT of this error. The
chatPGT only got angry accusing the techeditor for lying and in the end
cut off the conversation, as ChatGPT continued to teat the techeditor as
lyer and vandal..).
