Brion,
Thank you for replying. However, I think you may have misunderstood my
issues. Apologies if I was unclear.
$wgScriptPath is a URL path and that sounds more like
a filesystem path, so I'm
assuming you meant to set $IP instead.
Perhaps $IP needs to be changed as well, but even if it does, the
settings for $wgScriptPath would still be inappropriate, as the path
given there does not exist on the hosting server.
As of MediaWiki 1.6, the default LocalSettings.php
that's generated on
installation includes automatic detection of the local filesystem path. If you
have an older config file you can copy this:
I have MediaWiki 1.6.3, and the script is already as you describe how it
should be.
The Wiki in my
home environment is located at:
http://localhost/web_sites/gutteridge.info/web
Do you *really* mean that? If so, your web site has an unnecessarily difficult
URL structure, which will make your site harder to use for visitors.
I do really
mean that, and I think there has been a misunderstanding of
my two environments. My home environment, with the URL given above, is
just for me alone, to do development and testing. It is not connected to
the web, and gets no visitors.
Where my Wiki is publicly accessible is on my *hosting service*, where
I'm trying to mirror my Wiki to.
So, just to be clear, I am developing and testing at home, and making
the Wiki publicly available from my hosting service. I want to be able
to do all my configuration, particularly with styles and designs, at
home, and then simply upload all the files to the hosting service when
done. This is how I develop all my web sites, and I can't imagine that
doing it this way with WikiMedia should be prohibitively difficult.
Thanks for any advice.
