We use MW 1.5.6 as our Intranet and we are puzzled how a full text search
for a word (one more than 4 characters) returns its results? We think we
want to change the results order.
Questions:
1. Why are search results not sorted by article title? How are they sorted?
2. If a priority is used for returned results, how does the search function
determine or assign the priority to the article?
3. What are the fields displayed in search results? What are the numbers
under each title? Is it the record line number?
4. Finally, can we configure or manipulate our displayed search results?
Maybe some localsettings.php setting?
Problem example: We searched for the word "character", clicked the Search
button and the following results displayed for article matches:

Hi there!
I need a customized fiile upload handling. Any uploaded file should
a) have [[Category:File]] on it and
b) have [[linked to::Current page]] on it
where Current page is the page from that "Upload file" was clicked.
Any hints on how to do it?
Cheers,
Ingmar
Hi *,
I have MW 1.7.1 server http://panwiki.panska.cz. Now I have got a better box
for it and I want to move my wiki and upgrade to 1.8.x version. Which
solution would you prefare?
1) Completely move 1.7.1 to the new server and than upgrade MW to 1.8.x
or
2) Install clean MW 1.8.x on a new server and than move just contents
Both servers are running Debian Sarge 3.1, PHP5.x and MySQL 5.x
Thanks
Jakub
Greetings,
I am using MediaWiki for gathering and structuring content for a
research project and am trying to implement a customized version of the
BibTex extension
http://gsc2.cemif.univ-evry.fr/index.php/Mediawiki_extensions#Bibtex_extens…
Basically the extension (called via a custom <citetex> tag) takes input
from a template, processes the BibTex information found there and
outputs a book/article reference. Some of that information (like author
names) shall be processed as wikitext (e.g. to link to the author page
inside the Wiki).
It shall be possible for the <citetex> tag to occur multiple times on a
page referencing different "source-templates".
Using the parser object passed to the extensions render function:
function renderCiteBook( $input, $argv, &$parser) {
// do some processing of the input here -> $string
$localOutput = $parser->parse($string, $parser->mTitle,
$parser->mOptions, false);
$output .= $string->getText();
}
results in all but the last <citetex> instance to be output as an UNIQ
object.
Following the instructions on
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki_extensions_FAQ#How_do_I_render_wik…
(that is creating a new local parser object inside the render-function
and using the parse() method of that instance) solved this problem and
wikitags are now parsed correctly.
What this approach does not accomplish, is creating the appropriate
wiki-references (no exact idea how they are created and stored in the
wiki-db) so "whatlinkshere" and "wanted pages" etc. don't work for
content/links parsed in this way.
So: do you have an idea or suggestion on how to get the backlinks etc.
references working also for wiki-links created by an extension?
Thanks alot for your help,
Hinnerk
