I don't see in Rama's sentence anything that
says "we should credit
professionals and not others". As a matter of fact, the rest of the
thread suggests that crediting the photographer altogether, whoever
they are, should be a rule. Except we can't promise it to anyone.
Previous discussions of this on wikien-l have noted that text authors
don't get a credit on the page itself (theirs is in the history), so
why should photographers?
That's why I'm speaking in terms of "useful to the reader" - and date,
place and photographer are the basic expected information about a
photo that a reader would expect to see.
