Though on a
somewhat tangentially related topic, it would be nice if
there were a way to just say "float left" in the wikitext, rather
than specifying the div element manually, which raises the barrier to
editing for people not HTML-savvy (and makes the wikitext less
readable).
The problem with that (AFAIK) is that the DIV needs to know how wide
the picture is -- otherwise the picture caption won't be made to wrap
& can take up the whole width of the page.
This is basically a shortcoming in HTML / CSS
So even smart markup would need to include a property indicating the
width.
Eg:
>300px>>[[Image:foo]]>>caption
for a right-floated box
Couldn't image widths and heights be auto-extracted and stored in a
table somewhere upon upload, and then used for the div tags automatically?
