Well the issue is more that it takes several hours to dump and compress
the database, which slows down the server all the while. However, I'll
go ahead and increase the backup frequency for safety's sake to every
other day until we get database replication set up (at which point a
secondary machine can churn out processed backups without slowing down
the main server).
PS I hope we are keeping off-site backups of the
system configuration each
time it is changed, too!
That would ruin the fun, wouldn't it? ;)
My private backups should include most of that; I think Jimbo keeps some
backups of the misc files too.
