[WikiEN-l] Non-free images, there has to be a better way

I've got one more question on our
Lindisfarne Gospels image. Since it
would almost certainly be "protected"
under British law I wonder if the
[[Berne Convention]] would require the
United States to uphold this protection.

Does anyone know?

Regards,
Haukur

P.S. For those new to the discussion the
image in question is:

Image:LindisfarneFol27rIncipitMatt.jpg

It is a featured picture on Wikipedia.

The image is derived from a picture from
the British Library website. The BL claims
copyright on it and Andrew Gray has
established that the claim would probably
hold up in a British court.
