I think the question needs to be asked as to why we don't allow 
swastikas on user pages. I don't neccessarily think we should, but the 
argument should probably be articulated.

I don't think the hammer and sickle has anywhere near the same effect 
today as the swastika does. It's a fairly generic symbol for communism, 
and communism, despite the actions of Stalin, is a far cry from nazism.
