Yes -- what would suffice is to drop a note on the article's talk page a couple
of days in advance: that would let everyone who cares know about it, without
having to research who the "substantial contributors" are. I only heard about
Caesar cipher's front-paging because someone added a "protected" template to an
associated image. Because of that, I've kept an eye on it more than I would
have otherwise.
