Doing "pwd" told me that I'm in the home/myusername directory, but when I
tried to do "chdir directoryname" even for directories that I KNOW exist
under the home/myusername directory, it gives me "chdir: command not found."
Does anyone have a good resource of common unix commands, or does it vary
per server what is accepted?
I'm sure once I get the commands down right I'll be able to navigate to the
MediaWiki install and run those scripts!

I'm not sure which commands to use to
navigate to my MediaWiki
installation (the directory is its own subdomain, wikific), and when I
get
chdir
there, whether I need to type "php
maintenance/update.php" or not
include
the "maintenance/" line at all.
Depends. Are you *in* maintenance? If so, omit. If not, keep it there.
I tried looking at existing MediaWiki
documentation, but it seems a
little
too "short and simple" and lacks any
real explanations.
We do assume basic knowledge of working with the OS. :) But Unix
commands are simple to learn.
I'm always getting the "Could not open
input file: filenamehere.php"
error
Implies file not found. Check path. :)
Besides update.php and rebuildlinks.php, what are
other maintenance
scripts
I should run after upgrading?
Usually no additional scripts need to be run.
