Not too horrendous, though be aware that if forced to run when PHP is
under safe mode, some parts of MediaWiki will not function as
expected...
...however, you may be able to get round this particular issue. Please
read the PHP documentation on safe mode at
http://www.php.net/features.safe-mode.
