It's non-obvious how to do this. There isn't even an "email this user"
link *at all* if you're not logged in, nor any hint that one would
appear if you did.
I have a question for the techies: On the
"Contact us" page on Wikibooks I
have a live mailto link to textbook-l, but I have obscured the displayed
email address like so:

with @)
Is this enough to prevent spam bots from sniffing the email address?
I expect not; that will put the live address directly into the link in
the HTML, after all.
